Causes of failure and repair of concrete mixers. Rules for working with a concrete mixer and do-it-yourself repair Tools for work

Concrete mixers are reliable products. If used correctly, they can last for many years. If problems arise in their work, you should not be upset and think about expensive repairs or about purchasing a new device. You can do the repair of a concrete mixer with your own hands, and it is not at all necessary to be a great specialist in repair work oh and acquire expensive tools.

Design features and principle of operation

A concrete mixer is a device through which you can get a concrete mix ready for use. This device mixes the components with water in certain proportions. In everyday life, a gravity-type design is usually used.

It consists of seven main elements:

The function of a concrete mixer is to mix the concrete components that are loaded into the drum. In order for the mixture to be homogeneous and of high quality, the drum must be constantly in motion.

The work is done in the following order:

  1. The drum is fixed at a certain angle.
  2. Water is poured into it.
  3. Then the main components are loaded.
  4. It remains only to press the start button and mixing will begin.

If, with the right actions, the concrete mixer does not start, then there is a marriage or malfunction.

Before disassembling the concrete mixer and proceeding with repairs, you must make sure that the warranty period for the product has already expired. If the warranty is valid, it is better to take the equipment back to the store where it was purchased and report the problems that have arisen: most likely, you will be able to get a completely new concrete mixer.

Frequent breakdowns

Concrete mixer - a device whose repair is very simple. Mostly they fail due to wear of too loaded elements or simply due to improper use. The most loaded, as a rule, are the drive elements. It is not uncommon for concrete mixer repairs to require parts such as gears or bearings. They take on a large load, especially if the download mode and speed mode are violated.

Gears usually become unusable due to improper operation of the device. Unfortunately, many owners of concrete mixers are convinced that the mechanism of this equipment does not need frequent lubrication, but this is their big misconception. Indeed, during operation, the load on the engine is constantly increasing, since the main components of the concrete mixture, which are cement and sand, tend to stick to the gear teeth, harden on them and remain for a long time. As a result, friction increases, the metal begins to wear out quickly. Lubrication is designed to reduce friction and load on the engine.

The reason for the failure of the concrete mixer may also be improper cooling, excessive load or improper operation of the gearbox.

Preparation for repair

Typically, the repair of a concrete mixer comes down to replacing a failed part. The first thing to do is to determine which part was damaged, and then purchase exactly the same new one somewhere. Repair of the concrete mixer is carried out by the owner himself, without seeking help from specialists, since this does not require any special skills and tools.

Every owner can easily find everything that is necessary for repair in his household.

The list of tools that you can not do without when repairing a concrete mixer includes:

However, this list is only conditional, since much in the repair of concrete mixers depends on the nature of the breakdown.

The electrical part of the concrete mixer is an electric motor, a magnetic starter, as well as a start button and a starting capacitor. Most often, the engine does not start after pressing the button due to problems, either with the starter or with the button itself.

To check if the starter is working, a multimeter is used. In this case, it is necessary to determine the integrity of the coil and adjacent contacts. If the coil is burned out, then it should be replaced, and it is better together with the starter, since the contacts also wear out significantly.

The operation of the start button can also be checked with a multimeter. And if, as a result of the check, it turns out that the button is faulty, then it should also be replaced.

To repair the concrete mixer, you may have to remove the drum. This will require wrench, the size of which depends on the size of the drum and on the model of the concrete mixer. The most commonly used key is 13 mm, but it is possible that some other will be needed. The wrench is needed in order to unscrew the fastening nut, locknut and fixing bolt, which is located on the side.

If the bearing needs to be replaced, you need to do the following:

If there is no puller on the farm and it is not possible to purchase it, then you can use a pipe of the appropriate diameter to remove the old and install a new bearing.

Prevention measures

After repairing the concrete mixer and eliminating the malfunctions that have arisen in one or another part of it (and preferably immediately after purchasing the equipment), you should try to use the device in the future so that there are no more similar or any other problems.

To do this, you need to follow a few simple requirements:

  1. Do not allow the control unit to come into contact with water.
  2. It is necessary to fill the drum with concrete components no more than 4/5 of the specified rate.
  3. Make sure that the voltage in the network to which the concrete mixer is connected does not exceed the maximum allowable. The manufacturer usually informs about the voltage that the device can withstand.
  4. Periodically, it is necessary to inspect all working units, and after preparing the concrete mixture, they should be cleaned of adhering sand and cement.
  5. Do not forget that the shaft and gears need regular lubrication.

If you try to follow all these not very complicated rules, then the concrete mixer will last for quite a long time and you won’t have to think about its repair throughout the entire period of operation.

If the device fails, then even someone who is not a great specialist in the field of construction can quickly repair concrete mixers with their own hands. It is enough just to determine which element has become unusable and replace it with a new one.

A concrete mixer is equipment designed for preparing various mortars and mixing dry mixes. Its use ensures high productivity of work. At the same time, compared to manually provides a higher quality finished material at the output. But in order to achieve this, it is necessary to mix concrete or another composition correctly, observing the proportional ratios between its components and the order in which they are added. There are different types of concrete mixers on the market. This affects the maximum size of the filler fractions that can be mixed during the preparation of the solution.

Effective work with a concrete mixer requires knowledge of its design. This is necessary in order, if necessary, to be able to repair the independently used model of equipment and properly maintain it.

The device of any concrete mixer provides for the presence of the following common structural parts:

  • containers(drum) for mixing the solution;
  • frames, which is a steel support structure on which all other elements of the concrete mixer are fixed;
  • blades designed to mix concrete or other mixtures and prevent them from sticking to the walls of the container;
  • drive with a transmission mechanism and a control system for it.

These structural elements are shown in the photograph below.

The metal drum can be of various shapes, for example, cylindrical, pear-shaped, barrel-shaped.

The concrete mixer can work due to muscular strength or due to the presence of an electric motor or an internal combustion engine. In the first case, the drum is set in motion by the worker by rotating a special handle. But mechanical versions of the equipment are quite rare. The most widespread units with electric motors. They are equipped with a push-button post, with the help of which the operation of the mechanisms is controlled. The power of the installed drive determines the purpose of the equipment for domestic or professional use.

According to the installation method, concrete mixers are divided into stationary and mobile models. The latter are equipped with wheels for ease of transportation.

According to the method of mixing the solution, there are two types of concrete mixers:

  • gravity;

  • forced.

The principle of operation of a gravity-type concrete mixer is based on raising the mixed mixture by a rotating drum and its subsequent fall under the influence of gravity. At the same time, the fixed blades placed inside the container additionally separate the composition, contributing to the faster formation of a homogeneous mass. The material is unloaded through the loading opening by means of a drum overturning mechanism driven by a wheel or a lever.

The rotation from the motor to the container in gravity models is transmitted through a gearbox or crown.

Works like a mixer: inside a fixed drum, a shaft with blades mixes the solution. The unloading of the finished composition occurs through a slide gate, which is located on the bottom of the tank. The shaft can be positioned horizontally or vertically (shown in the photo above). Forced-action models are equipped with more powerful electric motors than gravity ones, and are also more expensive.

Concrete mixer performance

The performance of a concrete mixer of both gravity and forced operation is determined by the following factors:

  • the time of mixing the solution until ready;
  • drum volume;
  • electric motor power;
  • material unloading time;
  • the number of batches that can be cooked within an hour.

The mixing time is specified by the equipment manufacturer in the operating instructions for it. Fast kneading is considered to take place in about 2-3 minutes.

Power value determines the number of hours during which the concrete mixer can be operated without overloading the electric motor. To calculate how much concrete can be mixed with a concrete mixer per day, you need to perform the following simple mathematical operations:

  • add the duration of loading, mixing and unloading;
  • determine the number of batches per hour by dividing 60 minutes by the figure obtained in the paragraph above;
  • find the volume of finished material in 1 hour by multiplying the capacity of the drum by the calculated number of batches;
  • multiply the hourly productivity by the allowable number of working hours per day.

The productivity of gravitational action aggregates is comparable to forced analogues with close technical specifications in which the shaft is located vertically. For models with horizontal shaft performance is lower. This is due to the fact that their shipping process takes longer.

Proper preparation of concrete mix

Foundation pouring, floor screed, laying of floor slabs, bricks, cinder blocks and many other construction and repair works are associated with the need to prepare concrete mortar in large quantities. At the same time, it is necessary to properly mix the concrete in the concrete mixer so that it turns out good quality. In this case, after pouring and tamping, a solid monolith will be obtained.

Proper preparation of concrete is as follows:

  • in the use of high-quality components (for example, not hardened cement of the required grade, clean sand with crushed stone);
  • in good mixing of the final mixture;
  • in keeping the proportions between the components.

Before you prepare the solution, you need to purchase everything necessary materials, having previously calculated their required number. You will also need water.

The proportions of concrete for the foundation and other monolithic structures are determined by the brand of cement used: the higher it is, the less of this component is added to the mixed mixture. If the correct ratios are observed, the strength of the monolith remains at the proper level. When we prepare concrete, the moisture content of sand with crushed stone should also be taken into account: if they are wet, then less water needs to be added.

Before mixing the mortar, the concrete mixer should be placed in a stable position on a leveled hard surface. You need to place the equipment closer to the place of its use, so that later you do not have to carry it far in buckets. The wheels of the machine must be fixed in a stationary position with the help of brakes. To unload finished material good fit old bath or a large trough - it is convenient to collect a solution from them. Each time to substitute a bucket and overturn the agitator is extra work.

  • pour water;
  • pour cement;
  • add the required fillers (sand with crushed stone);
  • add the necessary additives if necessary (for example, a plasticizer);
  • start the concrete mixer for the time indicated in the operating instructions for the model used.

The temperature of the concrete mixture at the outlet of the concrete mixer should be approximately +5 to +30 degrees (for different brands of cement there may be slight deviations). In this case, the finished material will comply with technological standards.

Making a solution takes some time. The exact mixing time depends on the additives used and the consistency of the mixture. Therefore, it is recommended to visually monitor the quality of the material at the exit, in the presence of lumps, increasing its mixing time.

Cleaning the concrete mixer after work

After operation, the adhering solution remains on the walls of the drum, both outside and inside, from which they must be cleaned. The working material also accumulates between the blades, contaminating the frame. If the solution is allowed to solidify, then it will need to be beaten with a hammer or other suitable tools. This deletion method results in the following negative consequences:

  • the appearance of dents;
  • knocking down paint, after which the metal begins to rust and corrode at a faster rate;
  • the impossibility of complete cleaning (the dried solution remains in hard-to-reach places, for example, at the junction of the blades with the body).

Also, shock removal has a bad effect on the support bearing, accelerating its failure.

To prevent such consequences, it is necessary to wash the concrete mixer from hardened cement immediately after completion of work. Timely washing is especially important when the mixed composition contains plasticizing additives with increased sticking properties: after hardening, it is very problematic to remove them.

Washing is recommended not only at the end of the work shift, but also during its process after a maximum of 2 batches. The cleaning process is best done by pouring water under pressure on a running concrete mixer. If this is not possible, then you need to pour water into the drum in the required amount and twist it. You can also wipe the walls outside and inside with a rag or brush.

Remaining after washing dirty water inside the container can be used for the next batch. It is impossible to leave it inside, because the plasticizer and cement that have settled in the liquid will seize. After cleaning, turn the container over so that the water is glass.

Damage can be reduced cement mortar and impair its ability to adhere to the walls of the concrete mixer drum. For these purposes, before starting work, the inner and outer surfaces of the container should be treated water-repellent and anti-corrosion compounds. Silicone or an automotive anti-corrosion agent is suitable as such materials. One-time processing is enough for about 3 months of regular operation of the equipment. After this period has elapsed, the drum can be recoated with a suitable compound.

The main malfunctions of the concrete mixer and their elimination

During operation, various breakdowns occur. In some cases, it is easy to repair a concrete mixer with your own hands, without contacting a service center specialist. Most often, malfunctions of concrete mixers are associated with the following components and parts.

Gearbox failure is classified as complex and quite expensive. Often, replacing one gear is not enough. You have to install a new node.

To install a new bearing, you first need to remove the drum and gear. After that, you need to knock out the shaft. Then you need to pull the bearing off with a puller. Instead of a worn or broken one, you should put a whole unit and assemble the unit in the reverse order.

Ring gear or gear engaged with it

The crown may be sector or solid view. To replace without dismantling the concrete mixer, only the first type part will turn out. To remove the worn drive gear, unscrew the bolted connection fixing it. Then this part is dismantled, replacing it with a new one.

If the electric motor is heated from a manual concrete mixer, then this may be caused by its overload or burning of the windings or wedging of the rotor. A multimeter will help determine the health of the electrical part of the engine. With its help, the integrity of the windings of the disconnected motor is determined. If a break is detected, you will need to purchase a new motor. In general, the list of problems associated with the electric motor is quite wide. Often their elimination requires special knowledge.

Belt drive (with pulley or belt)

It is convenient to carry out a belt tension or its change by two people. The features of the process are determined by the design of the operated concrete mixer. To change the worn plastic pulley, you will need to unwind its fasteners, after removing the container.

Button for turning on the electric motor of the concrete mixer

Set the start button to work as well helps multimeter. To do this, you must first remove the button and disconnect the appropriate wiring. After you need to disassemble the button. If the starter coil is intact, then the problem is that the contacts are dirty. It is enough to clean them with fine sandpaper to restore the functionality of the button. The burnt coil will need to be replaced with a new one.

Over time due to wear and tear holes in the drum. They are closed with pieces of sheet metal of a suitable size by welding or bolting. Infrequently, but it happens that the frame (bed) bursts. Troubleshoot using welding machine. Also rarely have to change the wheels.

To repair the equipment with your own hands, you will need to use various tools, devices and fixtures. An example list includes:

  • multimeter;
  • Bulgarian;
  • electric drill;
  • welding machine;
  • hammer;
  • pliers and round nose pliers;
  • spanners;
  • screwdrivers;
  • caliper, ruler or tape measure.

Replacing a worn bearing requires the use of a special puller.

Permanent loads, incorrect Maintenance and maintenance, wear of parts over time lead to various kinds of problems with the concrete mixer. At the same time, you can entrust the repair of a concrete mixer to specialists or do it yourself. In the latter case, if the unit is not under warranty, then it will be possible to save a significant amount. In order for the operated equipment to serve for a long time without breakdowns, it must not be overloaded. It is also necessary to pay attention to the first signs of problems and eliminate them in time. The equipment should always be well cleaned of residues of adhering solution.

Hi all! Since I work as a sales assistant in a tool store, naturally my duties include not only consulting, but also the assembly of various equipment. And in this article I decided to give instructions on how to assemble a concrete mixer.

This refers to a factory-made device, which the buyer purchases in disassembled form. Therefore, if you stumbled upon this article in search of information on how to make a concrete mixer with your own hands, then I'm sorry, here we will talk about something else. And in general, a new full-fledged concrete mixer will now cost 8-9 thousand rubles, which is not so expensive when compared with the rest of the cost of construction or repair. Is it worth it to bother assembling it from improvised materials?

By the way, I recommend buying a concrete mixer here. This is the Vseinstrumenty store. They have a large selection, reasonable prices, and free delivery to a pickup point in your city. The 220 volt store also works approximately the same way. Click here to view their offer.

So, I will show the assembly using the Skiff concrete mixer as an example, however, the same unit is also sold under the brands Prorab, Kraton, Elitech, Caliber and many others. The color may differ though. And, if the design is somewhat different than in our example, then the assembly will still be about the same. In our case, it is 160 liters, but the process of assembling agitators of other volumes is similar. This model is one of the most common among Chinese devices.

Let's go directly to the assembly process. Unpack the box and lay out all the details before your eyes. In order to assemble the concrete mixer from our example, you will need one open-end wrench for 12, 14, two for 17, and possibly one for 22. You will also need a Phillips screwdriver. We will not go into details of where the bolts go. Everything is simple here: if the bolt fits, then we put it.

First you need to take the triangular-shaped rear support and put the wheels on it, fixing them with the included washers and cotter pins.

Now we take the frame and connect it to the support indicated above, on which the wheels are already put on. The frame is the same on both sides, so it doesn't matter which side to attach this support to. True, on some concrete blocks there can still be a difference. If your frame is not symmetrical, then the triangular support should be mounted on the side where the engine will be mounted.

Now we attach the second support to the opposite edge of the frame.

Next, on the assembled base, we install and fasten the lower part of the drum together with the support attached to it. It's better to do it together. If you are alone and not confident in your abilities, then you can separate the support and the drum by installing them separately. To do this, you just need a key of 22. The ends of the support are different, so the one where the engine will be attached (the side with the drive sprocket) is placed from the side of the wheels.

Now you need to attach the inner blades to the bottom of the drum.

Install upper part drum on the bottom and fasten. The installation must be done so that the arrows glued to both parts look at each other. If there are no arrows, then we set it so that the inner blades with their mounting hole reach the holes on the top. When installing, it is necessary that the mounting bolts holding the sealing gum fall into their threaded mounting holes. After installation, tighten these bolts with a screwdriver.

Now we fasten the inner blades to the top of the drum.

Then install the steering wheel. We find a “coin” in the fastener and throw it into the recess for the spring.

Now insert the spring.

Holding the spring, we attach the “steering wheel” to the mounting holes and thread the bolt included in the kit. On this bolt we fasten two turnkey nuts by 17, and without tightening to the end, we counter them. Incomplete tightening is necessary so that the "steering wheel" can freely deviate to change the inclination of the drum and return to its original position under the action of the spring.

Do not forget to preload the spring, tightening the bolt intended for this, so that the “steering wheel” itself can remain with its protrusions in the slots of the latch.

Now let's start installing the engine. If you already have it inside the assembled case, then everything is simple. We put it on the existing spindle with a pulley and fasten it with the supplied bolts and a special plate.

Repair of a concrete mixer is an important issue that sooner or later arises before every builder or owner of this tool. Unfortunately, breakdowns of concrete mixers are a common phenomenon, and there are a lot of reasons for this. Firstly, huge loads are placed on this device. Secondly, often the owners themselves do not pay proper attention to the tool, they operate and store it incorrectly. It is also fraught negative consequences which often require repairs. Before you get down to business on your own, you need to study all the information, stock up necessary tools.

Tools

You can only repair if you have experience in similar work. I had to fix home appliances? Did you bring a car or a moped back to life? Then feel free to start repairing the concrete mixer. If you have never done this before, do not know how to hold a screwdriver in your hands and do not have at least an elementary set of tools at home, it is better to turn to professionals for help. Otherwise, there is a risk of completely losing your concrete mixer.

To repair the unit yourself, you will need a list of tools (of course, depending on the breakdown, the set may change). Among the main ones are pullers (three-armed and for bearings), a vice, pliers, a hammer, of course, screwdrivers, a chisel. Also, you can not do without a set of keys - gas, wrench, adjustable. Prepare the knife, tester and caliper in advance.

Possible causes of breakdowns

Possible reason breakdowns - wear of parts.

There are many reasons why you might need a concrete mixer repair. It happens:

  • when the unit loads more than the established norms;
  • the drum is not cleaned in time (this must be done after each use);
  • the tool is stored incorrectly and in improper conditions.

A special place is occupied by the repair of consumables - belts, drive gears, shutdown buttons.

Wear of parts, improper storage and operation are the most common causes of breakdowns in concrete mixers. But the replacement of thrust bearings and gear rims occurs much less frequently, all because their service life is much longer than the above parts.

Consider the main causes of breakdowns of the main parts of the concrete mixer.

  1. Gears. As a rule, a quick breakdown indicates improper operation. Many owners consider it necessary to periodically lubricate the rims and gears, supposedly this reduces the load on the motor. And completely wrong! In this case, the load only increases. When working, cement / sand clings to the teeth, this increases friction and quickly abrades the metal.
  2. Reducer. It wears out quickly due to poor cooling, overload. In this case, the part remains only to be replaced. There is even a chance that you will have to change the entire assembly.
  3. Toothed crown. It is subject to significant mechanical stress. The material of this part is plastic or cast iron. More often, cast-iron parts come into disrepair (this is due to the low quality of the casting). Therefore, it is better to initially install a plastic crown.
  4. Shutdown buttons. Often the cause of the breakdown lies precisely in them. This is expressed as follows: by pressing the button, the unit (motor) allegedly starts to start, but after a couple of minutes it stops working, stopping. In this case, it is important to replace the button with another one, the main condition is that it must have the appropriate number of contacts.

Types of repair work

Button repair

Buttons in concrete mixers are magnetic actuators, not just an on/off design. This ensures the safety of operation, because when the power is suddenly turned off, the machine will stop, and when turned on, it will not start unexpectedly, thereby harming someone.

If the button has become unusable, slowly remove the casing (by unscrewing the screws that hold it), the button itself. Inspect the part, if necessary, clean the contacts. Also disassemble the button, cleaning it inside.

Belt repair

Sometimes it may happen that the motor works, but the tank does not (no rotation occurs). In this case, the cause may be in the belts. Remove the protective cover of the drive and assess the situation. Most often, the strap just slips off - in this case, you need to put it back in place. Sometimes, even if the belt is intact and not broken, it may not be suitable for further use. So, you can not do without buying a new one. To install it, loosen the bolts that attach the motor (there are two of them), install the belt. Start with a small pulley (near the motor), gradually moving to a large one. It is advisable to use someone's help - it is very difficult to cope on your own, because you need to delay the engine and immediately tighten the bolts. Actions happen at the same time.

Repair of a concrete mixer is a situation that every builder or owner of this mechanism faces. The unit operates under heavy loads, and often beyond the limits allowed by the operating instructions. Timely maintenance of the concrete mixer accelerates the wear of parts and assemblies, which causes the failure of the entire unit. Broken equipment can be replaced with a shovel or a drill with a mixer, but you can’t build much with these tools. And then the only way out is repair.

Design features

A concrete mixer is a mechanism designed to mix building mixtures in large quantities. Its design depends on the type of unit. IN individual construction self-tipping gravity-type household concrete mixers are used. In them, the blades are fixed on the drum body, and the mixture is mixed due to its rotation. To unload the finished solution, the pear of the concrete mixer is overturned using a special device.

An internal combustion engine or an electric one is used as a drive. Structurally, the concrete mixer is made in the form of a frame on which a movable container, a tilting device and a drive are installed. To move around the site, it can be equipped with transport wheels. Concrete mixers are widely used as devices, the repair of which can be done by hand.

The main characteristics of the mechanism are:

  • pear volume;
  • drive motor power;
  • the maximum angle of inclination of the drum.

Most often, household concrete mixers have a power of 1-1.5 kW, which ensures the preparation of the mixture in a pear with a volume of 180 liters. Since the high-quality creation of the solution is ensured by the tilt of the rotating container, the frame must be made of durable materials. A bent pipe structure is considered reliable. The frame, made of metal profile, can provide strength with optimal angle inclination of units with a volume of 60-80 l.

Causes of failure

Most often, defects occur in the rotating units of the concrete mixer. During the operation of the unit, cement milk enters the pear bearing assembly, which gradually hardens and clogs the bearing. This leads to its destruction, which is the cause of the breakdown of the concrete mixer. If you do not carry out timely inspections of the unit and its cleaning after completion of work, then such a mixer will not last long, and the failure of the bearings entails a breakdown of the entire assembly and structural elements of the frame.

Often, to speed up the work, the concrete mixer is overloaded with a mixture, which negatively affects the operation of the entire device and the drive unit. In this case, not only the belt is destroyed, but also the pulley. And this threatens to idle the mechanism for several days.

Since the operation of the concrete mixer is associated with frequent switching on and off, the electric starter may break. In most cases, the defect is associated with burning contacts or a short circuit in the holding coil.

The failure of the concrete mixer motor is rare, and this is most often associated with interfering with the control circuit if it is started directly, without a button. With this scheme, the thermal relay of the motor is deactivated, and the device remains unprotected. An increase in the temperature of the winding leads to the destruction of the insulation and, as a result, to the breakdown of the concrete mixer.

Required Tool

Depending on the amount of repair work being done, different tools will be required. For example, to eliminate defects in the electrical part, you need: a screwdriver, a tester and sandpaper. To repair the bearing assembly, you need to have a set of bench tools. Sometimes it is impossible to repair a concrete mixer without the help of a qualified turner.

Due to constant contact with water, the bolts securing the pear to the bearing shield become unusable, and it is impossible to unscrew them. In this situation, a grinder will come in handy. Based on the maximum amount of work, the following tools and devices will be required:

  • a set of locksmith tools;
  • Bulgarian;
  • drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • pliers and wire cutters;
  • puller or punch;
  • tester or multimeter;
  • sandpaper;
  • a set of necessary spare parts.

Troubleshooting in the field can be carried out with a minimum set of available tools and auxiliary means.

DIY repair

You can restore the performance of the concrete mixer on your own or with the involvement of specialists from a repair organization. To complete the task, you will need the ability to work with the listed tool and compliance with safety requirements.

A malfunction can occur both during operation and when the mechanism is turned on. During the operation of the concrete mixer, some parts, especially consumables, wear out and cause the mechanism to fail. The most significant failure is the destruction of the bearings and the rotation transmission unit.

How to change a bearing

To get to the defective assembly, it is necessary to turn the agitator bulb upside down and unscrew the locking bolt. The drum is freely dismantled from the traverse using a puller, and if it is not available, then a suitable size drift is used. In order to protect the thread, the bolt is screwed back and the stem is knocked out of the seat with a light tap.

In order for the pear not to be damaged when falling, boards are placed. Then the bolts securing the bearing shield are cut off. Having disassembled the assembly, they get access directly to the defective parts. Bearings are pulled off the shaft with a puller. If it collapses completely, the inner race cannot be cut off with a grinder, since the shaft neck can be damaged.

In the event that the outer race rotated during the operation of the concrete mixer, the bearings and bearings will have to be replaced. For such work, the help of a turner will be required. A working set of bearings is pressed onto the shaft. When installing them, it is forbidden to use a hammer. This can lead to chipping and damage to the separators.

Assembling the bearing assembly begins with the installation of the shaft in the shields. After that, the knot is placed on a pear, having previously treated the seat with a sealant. The elements are fastened with a purchased set of bolts. They are installed so that the hat is inside the pear. Then it is mounted on the traverse and secured with a locking bolt.

Most concrete mixers use a pair of #6206 single row ball bearings.

Why the concrete mixer does not pull - change the belt and drive pulley

If, when the unit was turned on, the engine started, and the pear did not budge, then a breakdown occurred in the rotation transmission unit. This will require disassembly, it is not difficult to disassemble it: you need to remove the box that covers the electric motor. It is fastened with screws.

Working under heavy load, the drive belt slips. There comes a moment when the grip on the pulley is reduced so much that the rubber starts to burn. This belt needs to be replaced.

The agitator pulley is made of plastic and pressed onto the shaft, which has a milled edge on one side. Due to the different strength of the materials, the plastic part is gradually destroyed. The steel edge cuts the plastic to such an extent that the seat becomes round and the pulley does not rotate the drive shaft.

To replace these parts, unscrew the bolts securing the engine and box to the frame. Remove the retaining ring, dismantle the pulley and install a workable one. Then the assembly is assembled and returned to its place.

Replacing the crown and drive gear

The design of the concrete mixer provides that these elements are made of materials of different strength. This is due to the fact that it is much easier and cheaper to replace the drive gear than the crown wheel. The passport of the concrete mixer states that gear lubrication is prohibited, because this leads to failure of the gear pair.

If during operation the mixer pear rotates jerkily and a characteristic crunch is heard, then the drive gear has broken, it is possible to replace the gear on the concrete mixer without dismantling the container. With a 10 key, the locking bolt is unscrewed, the washer is removed and the part is carefully dismantled. It must be remembered that a key remains on the shaft in the groove, which must be removed. The installation of the working part does not constitute labor and is carried out in the reverse order.

The crown rarely breaks, but if necessary, it can be easily dismantled. It is necessary to unscrew the bolts that hold it to the pear body.

Button cleaning

There are cases when, when starting the concrete mixer, at the moment the button is released, it stops. This indicates that the magnetic starter is faulty. It is mounted on the drive housing and is a dual rocker switch. Remove it with a screwdriver.

The immediate cause of the breakdown is the burning of the contacts. They are cleaned with sandpaper and a button is assembled. If the coil burned out, then the starter must be changed.

Motor Capacitor Replacement

This malfunction is manifested by the hum of the engine during start-up and no rotation. The part is located under the drive box and is screwed into its wall. To replace, it is necessary to disconnect the wire terminals, and unscrew the capacitor. When replacing, the parameters of the working element must correspond to those indicated on the body of the defective part. Otherwise, the mixer motor will not rotate.
