How to organize heating of a tent: step-by-step instructions. Tents with a stove. Tourist tent heater. Gas heater for a tent: types, principle of operation, pros and cons Features of choosing metal, catalytic and ceramic infrared

09.07.2018

During the cold season, heating is required not only for a residential building or garage, but also for temporary housing - a campsite, a campsite, a tourist tent. The last two options, as a rule, involve greater distances from populated areas and a lack of power supply. In addition, the design of a tourist tent itself requires compliance with certain rules, and therefore the heater for it must comply with the established parameters.

Types of heaters

Depending on the purpose of the tourist trip and its duration, different types of temporary housing are selected. If you are planning a family Sunday picnic, you will need a large camping-type tent. To heat the latter, you will need a fairly high-power device, but since people get to the picnic by car, this will not be difficult. If a two-week hiking route is planned, then both the tent and the device for heating it are selected based on considerations of compactness and lightness.

Therefore, it is recommended to choose the appropriate heating device depending on its purpose.

  • Gas - this option has become popular in the last ten years, due to the appearance on the market of a large number of similar devices. Typically, a gas burner can operate in two modes: heating and cooking, and, due to its compactness, has earned positive reviews from many tourists.
  • Gasoline heaters are a very common type of camping heaters, due to the low cost and availability of fuel.
  • Collapsible stoves - potbelly stoves. Stoves are in great demand for heating large tents in extreme cold conditions: mountain tourism, mountaineering.
  • Alternative – This category includes various heating methods using local materials. For example, heating stones on the coals of a fire and placing them in a tent, or heating with bottles filled with hot water and the like.

Alcohol candles

The heating option is popular among winter fishing enthusiasts. Such devices are often made independently and consist of some kind of container with a narrow neck filled with alcohol. The wick is immersed in the container, ignited, and the burner is ready for use. When the air temperature is below 5 degrees, you should choose a more efficient heating method.

Gas burners

The design is in demand among fans of hiking because of its light weight. Very easy to use, reliable, compact, and almost silent. The device is available in two modifications.

  • A burner on a cylinder - in addition to the listed advantages, has a disadvantage: at temperatures below 5 degrees it stops functioning. It is recommended to choose such a burner if you plan to hike in spring and autumn.
  • The burner and cylinder are connected using a hose - the device works great at low temperatures.

When using gas burners, safety precautions must be carefully observed. In addition, both designs have one more drawback: the burners can only be attached to their “original” cylinders, so the tourist has to carry gas containers with him. The photo shows a tourist gas burner.

Gas heaters

They also have two modifications and are characterized by greater power.

  • Universal - is a burner equipped with a reflector. Using the regulator, the device can take a vertical or horizontal position for cooking. The burner power is about 1 kW, which allows you to heat 5–6 cubic meters. m.
  • Ceramic gas heater - the fundamental difference is that this device is intended only for heating. You cannot cook food on it. Heating occurs due to flameless oxidation on a catalytic panel. Of all the tourist heaters, this type is the most fireproof. However, the minimum weight of such a device is 0.7 kg, plus replaceable large cylinders. The photo shows a device with a ceramic panel.

They are fundamentally no different from gas burners, except that gasoline is used as fuel. The cost of the devices is lower, and their popularity ensures the availability of fuel that does not need to be carried with you. When using devices, precautions must be taken - devices are fire hazards. If the route goes through nature reserves, it is recommended to abandon this heating method.

Portable ovens

An option that is implemented only in a large tourist group, if necessary, heat a large tent such as a camping or camping one. The stoves are characterized by high heat transfer and, judging by reviews, are indispensable in extreme tourism. However, they have a large weight and dimensions, which narrows their range of applications.

All lovers of tourism and simply relaxing in nature have to solve the problem of heating. You can't light a fire in a tent. And I really want to dry my clothes and equipment after a hike. What can we say about winter tourism!

The ideal solution for this is a portable gas heater. It is lightweight, safe and easy to use. A wide range of models will allow you to choose what you need.

Advantages of a portable gas heater:

  • light weight and compact dimensions;
  • convenient source of fuel - a gas cylinder - safe, lightweight, instantly ready for use (can be inserted inside the heater or connected with a flexible hose);
  • high efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the heater;
  • safe - minimum flame size, automatic safety;
  • convenient to use;
  • instant warmth - no need to wait for the air to heat up, infrared radiation will instantly warm you up immediately after turning on the device;
  • can be used outdoors.

You can use a portable gas heater to heat your tent, ice fishing, car, garage and just outdoors. It all depends on the power of the device.

You can also choose a heater for the most convenient gas cylinder size for you - from a miniature gas cylinder to a full-size propane cylinder

A tent is a very useful thing. It is indispensable for romantic outings into nature. It has also become a classic for fishermen, who now rarely go out with just one fishing rod in their hands.

The tent itself is already a comfort. But a person always strives to further improve his living conditions, so attempts to heat a tent do not surprise anyone. It is worth recognizing that a heater in a tent is sometimes even necessary.

You can’t do without it if an outing into nature or a fishing trip takes place in cold weather, and also when children are traveling with adults and should not be cold. For those who like to travel in the mountains, it is completely impossible to do without a winter tent.

Previously, people tried to light fires to keep warm near the tent. But it is unlikely that a modern person will do this. A portable heater for your tent is much more convenient and safer. You can take fuel for it with you, so you don’t have to waste time looking for brushwood.

And around the clock, which is also necessary, there is nothing to say. Therefore, a travel portable heater usually runs on liquid fuel, which can be topped up as needed.

For a winter tent, you can use a portable infrared heater. It is convenient because it does not heat empty air, but a specific area that you need, and does it very well.

Infrared waves are targeted. For example, you direct them to the place where you are going to sleep. This is what will be heated. Thus, an infrared heater for a tent does not heat what you absolutely do not need, which is important in field conditions.

Heater brand Kovea

Among them, the most popular are:

  • Kovea (Korea);
  • Coleman (USA);
  • Elekon (China).

Heaters from the first manufacturer on the list are available in two modifications. Some are equipped with collet cylinders, others with threaded ones. The latter, in addition, have an adapter, which allows you to switch from one type of cylinder to another if necessary.

The line of equipment from this manufacturer includes devices with power from 0.9 to 1.67 kW. You can buy such a device at a price not exceeding 5,000 rubles.

The heaters of the American company are designed to use exclusively threaded cylinders. They are catalytic and equipped with a platinum-coated canvas. A special feature of the equipment is that it cannot be used with cylinders from another manufacturer.

Coleman BlackCat

The Coleman product range is represented by devices with the following power:

  • 0,85;
  • 1.1 kW.

Depending on this parameter, the cost of the heater also changes. The cheapest model costs about 3 thousand rubles, and the most expensive – more than 7,000 rubles.

Elekon brand equipment is manufactured in China. It has a power of 2 kW and costs no more than 2,500 rubles. Such heaters operate on collet cylinders, but are characterized by low safety. You need to be especially careful with the device in the first 10 minutes of operation, as during this time the flames can reach 30 cm in height. Therefore, such heaters should be used with special care.

Watch a video about the Falo model:

The most spectacular model of gas lantern heater is the Italian brand Falo. This is one of the most popular devices on the domestic market. Not only can it be used for camping, but it is also a kind of decoration used in many stylish outdoor restaurants. Devices of this type are designed for outdoor use, have a stylish design and can be operated from either a cylinder or mains gas. It all depends on what jets are installed in the gas heaters, made in the shape of an old lantern, made in Italy.

Safe operation is the key to a successful holiday

Since the operation of such devices is based on the combustion of fuel, certain rules must be followed when using them. It is prohibited to use the device for:

  1. Drying clothes;
  2. Direct it towards flammable objects.

During operation, do not remove the safety grill or cover the device with cloth or paper. Install the device exclusively in a vertical position. You should not make a gas heater with your own hands - at home it is difficult to achieve both the correct operation of the equipment and its environmental safety.

If there are problems with the fuel supply, you should not disassemble the cylinder yourself, much less try to fill it with gas. This work should only be trusted to professionals.

Before turning on the purchased device, you should carefully study the instructions for its operation and act according to the recommendations given therein. This will help avoid unpleasant moments when using the heater and allow you to fully enjoy your outdoor recreation.

A gas lamp for a tent is a source of bright, non-directional lighting. Such lamps are used today by tourists, hunters, and fishermen.

How does a gas lamp work?

Gas lamp device and gas burner are identical, with the only difference being that the head of the gas lamp is a rod on which there is a catalytic mesh that ensures the bright glow of the device. The mesh is protected from external influences by a glass shade, which has metal cover, attached to metal frame on the gearbox. A chain or wire bow is provided for hanging the device. The kit may also include spare nets and a transport case.

So the device gas lamp for tent is quite simple and reliable. Its weak elements (shade and mesh) are always available for sale and are inexpensive. They can be purchased in our online store, which also offers a wide range of various goods for recreation and tourism (for example, you can purchase here gasoline burners for ice fishing, tents, rugs, tools, etc.).

How to use gas lamps correctly?

The use of gas lamps has its own characteristics, among which the following can be emphasized:

  • it is important to monitor the condition of the mesh - if holes begin to appear in it or it begins to crumble, then it should be urgently replaced, since further use of the device is impossible;
  • To operate such a lamp or lantern you need a little pressure, so if you use gas infrared heater for heating a tent or gas stove for cooking, then half-empty cylinders can be used for a gas lamp (the remaining gas in the cylinder is quite enough for normal lighting);
  • You should purchase only branded gas cylinders for a gas lamp and do not allow the use of alternative fuel options to avoid clogging and damage to the lamp;
  • If the lamp model you choose does not have piezo ignition, then you should take a lighter or matches with you.

What can you purchase in our online store?

In our online store you can choose gas equipment from Kovea, which is suitable for use in fishing, hunting, and outdoor recreation. Gas lamps from this manufacturer occupy leading positions in the market due to the excellent quality of the products and ease of use. More recently main problem Kovea gas lamps were bad job in winter conditions. But with the transition to propane, gas lamps can easily operate down to -40 degrees, thereby beginning to displace gasoline burners and lamps from use.

The store's catalog also includes Orgaz gas lanterns, which are connected to a household valve gas cylinder. Such lamps are well suited for those people who travel to their destination by car. For fishing in Russian conditions, such lamps are simply ideal, as they can work with local propane cylinders, and at the same time the cost of their use is low. However, such lamps are somewhat inferior in brightness to Kovea lamps.

In addition to gas lamps, lanterns and heaters, in our store you can purchase various camping equipment and items necessary to ensure comfort in camping conditions. So, for example, tourist knives online store“On the Seven Winds” offers handles of various shapes, colors and at attractive prices. All you have to do is choose the product you like, put it in your cart and wait for a call from the store manager to clarify all the delivery details.

Good day, friends! This review will focus on heating in a tent in winter time. I posted a post on the blog - I’m looking for an answer, since the review will be educational in nature for me in particular. At the end of the post I will formulate the questions that interest me.

The frosty season is approaching, which cannot please nature lovers, fishermen, tourists, athletes and simply active people. Whatever category you fall into, I need your experience, if you have any, experience in heating a tent in winter. More precisely, the temperature range is 15-20 Celsius overboard.
Specific conditions for using heating devices are a dome tent, without a bottom (these are used for fishing). The outside of the skirt is covered with snow. There is spruce branches on the floor, a layer of 20 centimeters. On top of the spruce branches there is a tarpaulin tent, sometimes foam (depending on whether there will be spruce branches at the overnight stay or not and the weather....) and a good cocoon sleeping bag - comfort -15 Celsius.
The problem is that during my overnight stays in the forest I used several methods of heating the tent. And not one of them suits me at all. Either you’re still freezing, then you make sure you don’t burn, then you ventilate... As a result, you don't get enough sleep. I would like to have 360 minutes of undisturbed sleep... So that I can be alert and rested in the morning.
I had to sleep near Nodya a couple of times, but it’s not comfortable having to turn around like a carcass on a spit. He heated one side, cooled four... This is not a rest, this is so as not to freeze!
And so the ways:
- Gas stove

Pros.
It’s convenient because you can cook on it in a tent and it’s difficult to turn it over if you kick it in your sleep. That’s all!
Cons.
The consumption of cans is very high, if you use it for heating, you need to have only high-quality cans for low temperatures, but they are expensive. As a result, using expensive raw materials, we still freeze, we have to wake up to check the combustion or change the cylinder.

-Candles.

Pros.
Cheap. It's not hard to drag.
Cons.
Cold.
(You always have to watch to make sure you don’t turn it over when you toss and turn and sleep like that once.)

- Kerasine lamp.

Pros.
Light + heating is not bad (a C grade).
Cons.
Constantly ventilate! Constant control so as not to tip over in your sleep.

- Gas heater.

Pros.
You can cook on it, you can dry clothes over it. I had one of these (yes, it floated away), we constantly burned it while fishing, but since we traveled either on snowmobiles or by car, we carried a propane tank with us.
The cylinder lasted for a very long time (for 2-3 fishing trips for sure). The only source of heating that moderately dries the air and does not allow condensation to fall out (in the literal sense of the word) in the form of snow inside the tent (whoever slept knows that such fine snow dandruff is everywhere inside the tent in the morning). Warm, comfortable, doesn’t stink, sometimes I even had to unzip the sleeping bag.
Cons.
Gas consumption is the same as a stove. I described this minus. And carrying propane on your back is not an option.

- Potbelly stove.

In ancient times, it was necessary to sleep in a combined arms tent for platoon soldiers. One medium-burning potbelly stove heated the tent with a bang. (Firewood has been prepared, the orderly is monitoring the stoves).
Pros.
Like indoors.
Cons.
As in the case of a propane cylinder (weight, volume...)

- Just wrap yourself up.
Pros.
With good thermal underwear and a high-quality sleeping bag (sleeping system), there are no worries about getting a good night's sleep.
Cons.
It’s disgusting to get up in the morning and crawl out to the toilet! It’s disgusting to crawl out to the toilet. Everything cold in the tent is dandruff everywhere, in order to drink tea you need to light a fire or a tile inside the tent, everything that is damp is frozen... brrr... I had this kind of morning several times when, having given up on everything, I put out the candles, primus stoves, tiles in order to sleep peacefully.

I am skeptical about salt heating pads, catalytic heating pads in a sleeping bag (they will only warm a certain area of the body, not for long), bottles of boiling water, I haven’t tried heated stones in a tent, but you need a cobblestone the size of your head, there are no such things in our forest. And open sources of fire (candles, Lebedev lights...., this is not safe). There is a good idea for candles, but where can you find such a chandelier?

As of today I don't have optimal option. Neither in my backpack nor in my head. Before asking a question, I’ll say right away that I understand that there is no ideal means of heating. But there is hope.

I would like to purchase it at a reasonable price, so that I don’t have to worry about a fire in the tent, so that I don’t suffocate, so that the weight is not heavy, so that flammable consumables are available, not expensive and available in stores (and not by ordering online). And the main thing is that it should be really warm (not like in a bathhouse, but so that the steam from your mouth does not billow out in clouds inside the tent.) Someone may know something like this; in extreme cases, I am ready to sacrifice some of the benefits I have listed.
???
And may the force be with you!

We will send the material to you by e-mail

A classic way to warm up on a hike is a fire. But experienced tourists and fishermen know that it is often not enough, for example, during cold periods or while spending the night in a tent. A modern gas tent heater will help ensure comfort in any conditions. It is compact, autonomous and safe to use correct use. Read about how to choose a device and how to use it in this review.

Gas heater - a device for cooking and heating outdoors

The devices themselves may vary in design and operating principle, but they are united by the fact that the source of energy is a miniature gas cylinder. It is installed inside the device or connected via a hose.

Most heaters work on the principle. In them, fuel burns in a burner and heats up the heating element. It emits heat in the infrared range, heats objects inside the tent, and they, in turn, release it into the air. There are other designs; read about their design below.

The elements of an autonomous tent heater are hidden in a metal casing. The total weight of the device without a cylinder is on average 0.3÷2.0 kg.

The structure consists of the following parts:

  • fans– help distribute heat evenly.
  • power regulator– allows you to change the temperature.
  • gas burner– source of thermal radiation.
  • reflector– a reflector that directs heat in a certain direction.
  • heat emitter– an element that accumulates thermal energy and transfers it to the air and surrounding objects.
  • gratings– protects the heating element from contact with objects.
Note! 92% of the energy of infrared radiation heats objects, floors and walls, only 8% accumulates in the air.

What can you use a portable gas heater for?

This camping gas heater is suitable for use in any natural conditions. Spent cylinders can be replaced, and the device does not require electricity. Therefore, with a supply of gas, you can even go on a long hike with this device.

Use for its intended purpose, that is, for heating, is possible both indoors and outdoors, but in the second case, the efficiency of thermal radiation will be minimal.

The device can also perform additional functions that make living in natural conditions much easier. Some models infrared heaters fit:

  • for drying clothes;
  • for cooking;
  • for heating water.

At night, a heater is also lighting fixture. Therefore, it will come in handy on any hike: long or short, summer or winter. And unity with nature will be more comfortable and enjoyable.

Advantages and disadvantages of devices: what is important to know so as not to regret the purchase

Why are modern ones so good? gas devices for heating a tourist tent:

  • Economical fuel consumption 65÷75 g/hour. One cylinder, turned on at full power, lasts for 10÷12 hours continuous operation device.
  • Small size and light weight. Taking into account the fact that it is also a device for cooking, the dimensions of the device are insignificant and will take up a small part of a tourist backpack with complete set food, clothes and a tent.
  • Easy to use. No maintenance other than replacing the cylinder is required.

However, the devices are not perfect; they still have some disadvantages:

  • Replacement cylinders of a certain type and size are required. In small towns it will be difficult to buy them. In addition, often the cylinder from one heater is not suitable for another.
  • In severe frost, the device may fail due to excessive cooling of the contents of the cylinder. The operating temperature of the device is often not lower than -10 degrees Celsius.
  • When operating the heater in a closed space, it is necessary to ensure a flow of fresh air and control the level of carbon dioxide.
  • Fire hazard. The switched-on device must not be left unattended or installed near flammable objects.
  • Self-filling a gas cylinder is not permitted.

Portable heaters have both pros and cons, so you should purchase and use them only after weighing all the risks. Most of the shortcomings relate to the unsafety of the device, so before turning it on for the first time, you must study the instructions.

What technical characteristics of devices are important for the user?

Not every heater will perform its task efficiently. In order not to make a mistake with the choice and purchase a device that will meet the requirements and requests of users, it is important to pay attention to some technical specifications device:

  • Efficiency (coefficient useful action) – the ratio of the energy used for heating and the energy spent on its generation. Measured as a percentage. For gas heaters, values from 30 to 100% are typical.
  • Safety. Many devices have fire protection and turn off when overturned or tilted. The presence of a carbon dioxide sensor is necessary for heating enclosed spaces; if the permissible norm is exceeded, the operation stops automatically.
  • Heating area and fuel consumption. These figures can vary greatly. A device for heating a one-person tent will be ineffective in a large tent. Therefore, it is necessary to select the power in accordance with the purpose of the application.

The external characteristics of a gas heater are also important: its shape, weight and size. The ease of use and transportation of the device depends on them.

Types of tourist gas heaters for tents

There are many types of gas heaters for tents. First of all, the devices differ in the design of the burner. They come in infrared ceramic, metal and catalytic.

Devices can connect to a fuel source in several ways:

  • to a large gas cylinder through a hose;
  • through the built-in compartment for a portable cylinder;
  • installed directly on the cylinder, like a nozzle.

For hiking, it is better to buy a device with a built-in cylinder or a heater attachment, as they are the lightest and most compact. The option with a separate cylinder is suitable for camping or fishing, when it is possible to transport the equipment by car.

Some devices are equipped with piezo ignition - this makes operation easier and does not require an open flame source (matches or lighter).Based on the complexity of the mechanism, method and intensity of heating, devices are divided into burners, heaters and furnaces.

Gas burners

The most simple device in design is a gas burner. It functions as a tent heater and a cooking stove. Can be connected to the cylinder via a hose or installed on it.

Its significant disadvantage is the presence of an open flame, which requires constant monitoring of the burner operation.Since there is no additional heat emitter, the efficiency of the device is the lowest. It is worth using for short hikes, day fishing or when traveling by car.

The burner may fail at a temperature of -5 degrees. Therefore, it is of little use for winter hiking.

Important! The burner has the most high level fire hazard from all types of tent heaters.

Gas heaters

Heaters are the most common devices for maintaining optimal temperature in a tent. They are produced using various heating elements: ceramic, metal and catalytic.

They are characterized by their small size, high efficiency, safety and functionality. All lovers of hiking short distances should buy a tourist gas heater for a tent.

PhotoHeat emitter typeEfficiency, %Material from which the heat emitter is made

50 Ceramic plate that converts the thermal energy of the burner into infrared radiation
Metal30 Steel bars
Catalytic100 Fiberglass panel covered with a layer of platinum.

Infrared Ceramic Gas Tent Heater

This gas tent heater is the most common. It is equipped with a carrying handle. Connects via built-in cylinder or hose. Suitable for heating and cooking. The part of the structure with the heating element can be easily rotated into horizontal and vertical positions.

Metal tent heater

These devices have a simple design. The metal rods are heated by the burner and give off heat. The design features of the heater do not always allow it to be used for cooking and heating food. The burner is installed on a portable cylinder or connected using a hose.

Catalytic heater

A catalytic tent heater differs from a ceramic one only in the type of heat emitter. By design and appearance, these devices are similar. The device is characterized by high efficiency. In them, fuel burns without the formation of a flame due to the platinum coating of the emitter. Catalytic heaters the safest in terms of the risk of fire of surrounding objects and durable.

Gas stove for tent

These devices are called gas heat exchangers. Unlike all the others, a stove is a device for heating a very large area in winter period time.The device operates from a cylinder and is connected via a hose.

It consists of a conventional gas burner and a metal body with internal chambers and a fan. Combustion products pass through all chambers, heating the housing and are discharged outside through the pipe.

This gas tent heater is often used for winter fishing. Since combustion products come out, it can work for a long time without causing harm or inconvenience to people.

The design drawback is the large size of the cylinder and the device itself; transport is required for transportation.

Features of choosing a metal, catalytic and ceramic infrared gas burner

When choosing a device, it is necessary to answer the following questions: how much area needs to be heated, how important is safety and whether additional functions are required.The device should be selected according to the size of the tent. The radius of influence of the heater should be close to its area.

Automatic shutdown when tipped over or the level of carbon dioxide exceeds is a big plus, since it is not always possible to keep track of the device. If children are going on a hike, it is important that the device is safe for contact. A conventional burner or metal heater in this case is not best option– it is worth paying attention not to catalytic and ceramic.

The device must be easy to use. To make it easier to carry, choose a model with a handle.The ability to change the angle of the emitter allows you to heat all areas of the room and position the burner horizontally for cooking.

Advice! Before you buy a portable gas heater for a tent, you need to read reviews about specific models and evaluate their advantages and disadvantages identified in practice in the field.

Rules for safe use

Any gas equipment and sources of open fire require careful handling, as they are potentially dangerous. When using tent heaters, you must follow the following rules:

  • Study the instructions for connecting and replacing the cylinder.
  • Place the device on a flat surface.
  • Open ventilation valve tents while the device is operating.
  • Constantly monitor the heater when it is on.
  • Replace the cylinder only outside.
  • Turn off the device while sleeping.
  • Do not install the device near flammable or explosive objects.

The heater must be used strictly for its intended purpose; if the device does not provide a cooking function, then this cannot be done. Violation of safety rules is a threat to human life and health.

Review of popular models

Tourist heaters from the domestic brand “Sledopyt” are popular in Russia. They produce compact, portable devices for heating one- or two-person tents. Suitable for fishing, hiking and traveling by car.

Reviews from professional tourists and fishermen about gas heaters for tents

Reviews of the gas heaters “Pathfinder OCHAG” and “Pathfinder ION” confirm the productivity of the devices and the ease of their use; buyers note only minor inconveniences, for example, the failure of the piezo ignition, but in this case a regular lighter is suitable for ignition.

Review by MaksiMc, Tomsk: Pros: Lightweight. Powerful. Economical. Not expensive. Gas cylinders sold at any hardware store.

Disadvantages: Didn't find any.

I bought a gas heater “SLEDOPYT-OCHAG” PF-GHP-IM02 a few days ago. The main purpose of this wonderful device will be to warm us during the cold season. During fishing trips, either in a truck booth or in hunting lodge. I haven’t gone fishing yet, but I managed to try it out in the garage. It was -18 outside, in the (major) garage it was around -10. Heated it in about 30 minutes (standard garage is 18 sq. meters), to a quite tolerable +18. Then I turned the power down to 1/3 and left it on. Because I was tinkering with the car. One gas cylinder in this mode was enough for 5 hours. And as a result, the temperature was like in the apartment +25. I think this is a very good result, using only 1 cylinder of gas...

To create comfortable conditions for outdoor recreation when there is no electricity, it is customary to use gas appliances. A common such device is a gas tent heater. This is a relatively safe and economical way to heat while hiking. The modern design consists of:

  • gas burner unit;
  • heat-reflecting screen;
  • control systems.
A similar unit is simply necessary in a winter tent. Durability and safety are tested by manufacturers who provide guarantees for the product. Another important advantage when traveling is light weight. Propane-butane fuel is available and optimal.

The durability of a gas tent heater allows it to be used during many trips. It is often necessary to use it in the summer. After all, for example, in the mountains the nights are especially cool. This heater will help you warm up and dry out after rain. Every winter tent should be sold with similar equipment. Its power is usually enough to heat a multi-person tent, even at very low outside temperatures.

The cost of a gas heater for a tent is quite affordable. Buying this device is especially important for those who often go on hikes. The choice depends on the volume and weight of the tent. It is also necessary to pay attention to the following indicators:

  • power, its adjustment;
  • fuel, operating time without refueling;
  • presence of piezo ignition;
  • safety valve;
  • design;
  • weight.

Often a winter tent is sold complete with a stove. This is also a good heating option. But very troublesome. It will be easier to purchase a gas heater, which will easily solve heat problems.

Latest technologies production make an infrared gas heater for a tent an excellent modern way to create comfort. Korean manufacturers called it “little sun.” Portable heaters are made by many companies. Consultations about models can be obtained in specialized stores and on Internet sites.

Many winter tents have a special “skirt” that protects from snow. It also performs a heat-saving function and can withstand wind and frost.

If you are planning a hiking trip in winter or other cold times, you should thoroughly prepare for it. Choose high-quality equipment, and may good luck accompany you!
