Diagram for connecting a magnetic lock to z-5r and matrix-II

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you need to install a shunt diode on the electric lock. It will remove voltage surges that occur in the lock, especially when the voltage is removed from it.

The jumper on the controller is in its normal position. The power supply can also be used with lower current consumption.

Connection diagram of matrix-IIK to an electromagnetic lock.

Diagram for connecting an electromagnetic lock to a reader combined with a controller. Well, I wrote about the diode above. It's really worth installing. In both cases, the wire from the power supply to the controller and from the controller to the lock must be type ShVVP-2x0.75.

Connecting a keypad to an electromagnetic lock.

Code dial panels usually have a relay output. With three contacts

  • COM - common connects to the negative of the power supply.
  • NC - Contact for connecting electromagnetic locks. BUT.
  • NO - Contact for connecting electromechanical locks. NZ.
A normally open lock is connected to a normally closed contact. ■

The main thing is that when connecting to a code panel, you should always install a bypass diode. It must be installed on an electromagnetic lock. Some Chinese aluminum locks already sometimes have surge filters installed. And installing a bypass diode is optional.

It is better to look at the connection diagram for a specific code panel in the instructions from the panel. If you still need a wiring diagram for the code panel, please leave a review about it.

Electromagnet button power supply.

You can simply connect an electromagnetic lock to the power supply. But you need to understand that it will not be possible to open the door from the outside. To connect, you can use a regular light switch. Turned the door on and closed. Turned off the door opened. But in practice, you should not use such a connection scheme. You will have to remove the tension and reapply it.

This scheme is usually used at checkpoints. When the decision to let in or not is made by the guard, and not the only door to the room is closed. In these cases, it is more convenient to use a lock control unit; I would even say the Z-396T opening timer. Simple scheme connection and setting the opening time gives advantages over the Z-5R controller. An external reader cannot be connected to the timer. But you can connect a door open button. When pressed, the door will open for a specified time.

And information on how to configure the controller has been collected in a separate article. If you have any questions, leave comments.

One of the options for protecting a room door or fence from unauthorized opening is to install an electromagnetic lock. Such a device is installed directly on the door, and it is controlled remotely using an electrical signal. Electromagnetic locks are very popular due to their high reliability and work perfectly both indoors and outdoors.

Design and principle of operation of electromagnetic locks

Although electromagnetic locks from different manufacturers may differ in design, they operate on the same principle. The door closes and opens due to the presence of an electromagnet inside the device. You can control such a locking device by pressing a button or by entering a special code.

The quality and reliability of the lock will depend on the strength of the electromagnet used. The larger it is, the more securely the metal plate holding the doors is fixed.

In the event of a sudden power outage, the electromagnetic lock will not be able to fulfill its intended purpose, so it is recommended to additionally install an autonomous power source or a conventional mechanical lock.

The reliability of door fixation with an electromagnetic lock depends on the holding force of the built-in magnet

To provide reliable protection home, industrial enterprise or territory, for management electromechanical lock An independent energy source must be installed. If the main power is turned off, the system automatically goes into offline mode, so the safety of the home will not be threatened.

The operating principle of an electromagnetic lock is simple and clear. The main part with a magnetic device is attached directly to door frame and is powered from a constant voltage source. The locking plate is attached to the door leaf. When power is applied, the electromagnet is activated and the strike plate is attracted to it, thereby ensuring reliable locking of the door. When you press the button that controls the lock, the power supply is turned off, after which the plate moves back, allowing the door to open.

Internal structure

The electromagnetic lock consists of the following elements:

To power almost any electromagnetic lock, a constant voltage of 12 V is required.. It may change slightly, but this is not desirable. If the voltage decreases, the holding force of the electromagnet decreases and the reliability of the lock also decreases. When the voltage increases, the winding overheats, which can lead to its failure. High-quality modern electromagnetic locks consume only a few watts, so their installation will not greatly affect the overall energy consumption.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Electromagnetic locks have many advantages, which explains their great popularity:

  • long term service - on average 10–15 years. Ensured due to the absence of moving parts;
  • large selection of models. They can be mortise, overhead, tear-off or shear;
  • high reliability. Such a lock cannot be picked using drilling or a master key;
  • opportunity remote control door opening/closing process;
  • possibility of installation on any doors, including metal, plastic, wood, glass;
  • simple installation and maintenance;
  • minimum power consumption - approximately 3–5 W;
  • ability to work both indoors and outdoors;
  • affordable price. A simple electromagnetic lock with a hold of 180–300 kg retails for 1000–1500 rubles.

Like any other type of lock, this locking device also has its disadvantages:

  • dependence on the availability of power in the network, therefore, for reliable operation of such a lock, it is necessary to install an autonomous power supply;
  • higher cost than a mechanical lock, which is justified by significantly greater reliability and ease of use;
  • the need to have certain skills in working with electrical networks for independent installation.

Types of electromagnetic locks

According to the type of design, electromagnetic locks are:

  1. Shift ones. The door opens due to the transverse shift of the locking element. Such devices can be installed on any type of door, including those that open in both directions.

    The operating principle of the sliding lock is based on the transverse shift of the locking element

  2. Holding or tear-off. In such a device, the door is opened by tearing it off. The functionality of such locks is not impaired in the event of deformation of the frame or leaf, as well as shrinkage of the doors.

    The retaining lock works by placing a plate against the base of the housing and holding it in place with an electromagnet.

Depending on the method of opening the door, locks can be:

The choice of electromagnet holding force will depend on the type of door leaf:

  • For internal doors A holding force of about 200–300 kg is quite sufficient;
  • for massive metal doors such force should be greater - 350–500 kg.

By type of application, electromagnetic locks are:

  • individual. Such devices are installed in private houses, apartments, offices, etc.;
  • public. They are used in shops, offices, banking institutions, entrances, etc.

Locks with controller

To provide control of the electromagnetic lock and the ability to connect additional equipment to it, such as a reader, card or key fob, opening button, buzzer, a controller is installed on it. To protect the controller from the negative effects of external natural factors, it must be placed in a special protective housing.

Electromagnetic locks with a controller are highly reliable, so they are usually installed in rooms where high demands are placed on the lock. These can be entrance doors to any room, fire and emergency exits, etc.

An electromagnetic lock with a controller is installed in a room where high demands are placed on the locking device

Modern locks with a controller have the following characteristics:

  • light and sound indication;
  • locking when selecting a key;
  • memory capacity of 500 or more keys;
  • protection against freezing and jamming;
  • non-volatile memory;
  • programmable door opening time - 1–15 s;
  • protection from high voltage at the entrance;
  • the ability to copy memory from/or to a computer.

Electromagnetic holding locks

The peculiarity of holding locks is that their installation does not require special precision and they are easy to adjust. The main advantage of electromagnetic holding locks is that their operation is practically not affected by the condition of the door. Due to their simple design and reliability, such locks have become widespread and are usually used in places where there is a large presence of people, when it is necessary to frequently close/open doors.

Typically, retaining locks are installed at the top of the door, which can lead to unwanted deformations on light and fragile panels. In addition, their design is susceptible to the phenomenon of residual magnetization. Therefore, experts do not recommend using retaining devices on canvases that open inward or in both directions.

The holding lock does not require high precision when installing and is easy to adjust

Slide locks

This lock works by moving a flat anchor. The main advantage of such models is that they can be installed inside the door frame or leaf. But the disadvantage of such structures is the need to accurately maintain the gap between the interacting parts of the lock.

The sliding lock can be installed inside the door frame

There are several basic parameters that you need to pay attention to when choosing and operating a sliding electromagnetic lock:

  • shear load, it can be from 100 to 1200 kg;
  • holding strength;
  • degree of security (secrecy);
  • residual magnetization - when opening the door, the force should not exceed 2 kg. If this value is greater, the lock needs to be repaired.

Coded electromagnetic locks

Their main difference from other types of locks is the presence of a code keypad, which may also have a card/key fob reader. Thanks to this device, you can open the lock in several ways:

  • by dialing a special code;
  • by dialing code + card;
  • card or keychain.

The combination lock, like other electromagnetic models, meets fire safety rules, since when the power is turned off, the door automatically opens. Since there are no rubbing parts in the design of such a lock, it has a long service life and is usually installed in rooms visited by 20 or more people per day.

The electromagnetic combination lock has a keyboard for entering the user identification code

When choosing an electromagnetic lock, you need to pay attention to the following criteria:

  1. Type of door leaf.
  2. Terms of Use. If the lock will be used outdoors, it must be protected from the negative effects of moisture and not be afraid of temperature changes.
  3. Installation method.
  4. Availability of an alternative power source. If it is not possible to provide autonomous power, then in the absence of electricity the lock will automatically open.
  5. Holding power. The larger and more massive the doors, the greater the holding force of the electromagnet should be.

Installation of an electromagnetic lock

If you have basic locksmith skills and know how to work with electrical circuits, then installing such a lock yourself is not difficult. Before you begin work, you need to decide on the following parameters:

  • how the canvas and the box are located - the box can protrude or be flush with the canvas;
  • whether the doors open inward or outward.

The most common option is when the door frame has a protrusion from the edge of the leaf when closed, 5–6 cm wide, and it opens outward. In this case, problems with self-installation an electromagnetic lock does not occur, but first you need to purchase all the necessary tools:

The installation process of an electromagnetic lock is divided into two stages: installation of the strike plate and the magnet itself. The sequence of work will be as follows:

  1. Installation of the strike plate. Usually, the electromagnetic lock kit includes a template for its installation along with the strike plate. First, they decide on the mounting location - it is necessary that the bar hits the electromagnet when the door is closed. After this, a stencil is applied to the door leaf and holes are made for the bolts. Then, using fasteners, the strike plate is fixed, and rubber washers are installed between it and the canvas. The strike plate must be able to move slightly; this is ensured by rubber washers, with the help of which it can occupy the required position relative to the electromagnetic lock.

    The strike plate must precisely align with the electromagnet when the door is closed, so it is installed on rubber washers to allow adjustment

  2. Unscrew the locking screws on the lock. Using the hex key that usually comes with the lock, unscrew the screws securing the lock bar.

    The fastening strip is used to fix the lock on the door using bolts; it is supplied screwed to the body

  3. On the canvas opposite the counter plate, mark the place for mounting the magnet.
  4. The flat mounting strip of the lock is securely fixed to the frame.

    An electromagnetic lock is fixed to the bar installed on the box, and then the locking bolts are screwed in

  5. Check for correct installation. The doors should close tightly, and the lock should not hit the striker.
  6. Connect power and other electronic components in accordance with the diagram in the instructions.

    All connections of the components of the access control system, under which the lock will operate, are made according to the diagram included in the kit

In the case when the doors open inward and the leaf is flush with the frame, special mounting angles must be used to install the lock.

Repair of electromagnetic locks

Although the electromagnetic lock has a long service life and high reliability, like any other equipment, it can fail after a while. The main factors that can lead to lock failure:

  • human - improper operation of the lock;
  • natural - the negative impact of external factors, which leads to damage to wiring and fasteners.

The main failures of an electromagnetic lock are associated with weakening or loss of the holding force or with the appearance of residual magnetization. The force may disappear due to a break in the wires that supply power to the lock, a breakdown of the power source, or a failure of the electromagnet coil.

Main malfunctions of the electromagnetic lock and ways to eliminate them:

  1. Coil repair. To check the functionality of the electromagnetic lock coil, you need to use a tester. The resistance should be several tens of ohms, it all depends on the model and power of the lock. If the resistance does not correspond to the parameters stated in the instructions, the coil is replaced, and if the block is monolithic, then the entire magnet.
  2. Residual magnetization. It appears when a capacitor breaks down, which serves to create damped oscillations when the power is turned off, removing the remnants of the magnetic field. To eliminate such a breakdown, you need to connect a 25 V capacitor in parallel to the lock terminals. For most domestically produced locks, a capacitor capacity of 220 µF is sufficient, and for foreign-made models, the capacitance can be from 220 to 1000 µF and is selected individually.
  3. Coil break. This malfunction can be eliminated by replacing the coil or restoring its functionality in specialized workshops.

If the electromagnetic lock has been installed correctly, then usually no problems arise during its operation. You just need to follow simple rules for caring for the equipment:

  • During operation of the lock, it is necessary to periodically check the condition of the plate. Under the influence of moisture, plaque may appear on it, which leads to a weakening of the holding force;
  • It is recommended to periodically check the fastenings of the lock and strike plate. Over time, under the influence of loads, the screws may weaken, so they must be tightened periodically;
  • When using a lock with a controller implemented as a separate device, you must have a master key. It is used to encode cards. It is recommended to store it in a mounting box, this will avoid coding problems that arise when one of the users loses the access card. It is recommended to place the controller itself in a sealed bag to protect it from moisture.

At the moment, the electromagnetic lock is widely used as a door locking device. After all, we already live in the 21st century and must use all new technologies to maintain the safety of our housing and industrial zones. It is electromagnetic locks that are the device that will provide us with a complete guarantee against unauthorized persons entering our facility.

Why are such locks better than conventional mechanical ones? First of all, these locks are easy to use, as well as easy to install on any door. If we also take into account that electromagnetic locks are not that expensive, and their service life is very long, then any of us will give preference to just such locks.

The operating principle of any electromagnetic lock is very simple. This type of lock keeps the door closed using an electromagnet. The electromagnet will attract the iron plate that is attached to the door and your door will be securely locked. You can control such a lock using a special button or use a special control system that will be triggered when a special code is entered.

The quality of an electromagnetic lock primarily depends on the attractive force of the electromagnet, and the greater it is, the stronger your lock will be. Do not forget that in the event of a sudden power outage, such locks do not perform their main function, so you need to take care of an independent power supply or install additional mechanical locks.

Considering that electromagnetic locks have become widespread in the construction and equipment of the so-called " smart home"after all the best option will provide an independent power source in your home. If there is such a source, the entire energy system of your home will automatically switch to autonomous power supply if the main one is turned off.

Like any other locks, electromagnetic ones have various designs, and in particular they can work in shear or tear. And of course, like mechanical ones, they can be overhead or mortise. The choice is up to you, but do not forget to take into account the installation location of such locks.

The service life of electromagnetic locks is very long due to their simple design. After all, such locks do not have moving parts in their design, which allows them to work in any climate zone.

Such locks are very convenient when installing them on entrance doors your home or plot. After all, you can open the door to the expected guests without leaving the house, and after they enter, the door will automatically be closed.

The operation of the electromagnetic lock itself is very simple and each of us can install and understand the operation of such a locking device ourselves. You attach an electromagnet to the door frame, which must be powered by direct voltage, and an iron plate is attached to the door itself. When the electromagnet is triggered, the plate is attracted and the door is automatically locked. Everything is very simple and reliable. When you press the exit button, you turn off the electromagnetic field and your door opens.

Magnetic, or rather, electromagnetic lock, has recently become very popular. True, it is more often used in public buildings, since prerequisite Its normal operation is constant operation of the electrical network.

What fundamental role does the Z-5R magnetic lock controller or its analogues play in the operation of the device?

Role of the controller

The operating principle of the Z-5R or Came magnetic lock is similar. While electricity is supplied to the winding. current, a magnetic field is formed in the coil. This field attracts the metal plate placed on the sash and ensures reliable locking. When the current supply stops, the field disappears, and accordingly, nothing else holds the leaf.

The lock controller is the device that regulates turning the voltage on and off. This provides for the removal of residual magnetization so that the door can be opened without difficulty.

The door opens from the outside. key or plastic card. The opening device code is stored in the controller's memory. It is almost impossible to reproduce it - it is 64 bits of information. From the inside, the door is unlocked by simply pressing the exit button, which is located on the lock or on the access control system.

Types of devices

In fact, the scope of application of devices is wider. AMZ v2, Digital are used to service locking mechanisms, control intercoms and more complex automation systems that control access, as well as Came barrier control systems, for example. Any option comes with detailed instructions for connection and programming.

The design of the modules is different, although not much. Exactly technical specifications and opportunities program control determine the area of use. The Z-5R modification is considered the most common and universal. This is explained by its advantages:

  • The magnetic lock controller circuit allows you to select the type of lock;
  • microcircuits are protected if connected incorrectly;
  • it is allowed to program special admin and blocking keys, which is described in detail in the instructions;
  • the device allows you to remember several identification codes;
  • It is possible to control access, for example, to allow the use of regular keys only at a precisely specified time, and to grant access to the administrator at any time. The photo shows the device being described.

Digital is another version of a universal device for various types of electromagnetic locks and automation. Its memory is very voluminous - it can remember up to 2000 keys, which allows the device to be used for servicing an apartment building.

Its advantages do not end there:

  • it is possible to program access to different keys over time;
  • you can connect locking devices of various types;
  • the controller can be connected to a computer to transfer data;
  • The device notifies you with a sound signal about various operations.

Other modifications - AMZ v2, for example, are less universal, but can also serve more than one type of lock. The mentioned modification, for example, is designed to work with automation CAME, NICE and so on.

Magnetic lock controller connection diagram

The device connector is AMZ v2, Z-5R has several contacts, their number varies. Each of them is designed to connect a different device, but circuit diagram connection of the magnetic lock controller remains the same. The instructions give full description fastening of each element.

  • 1 – external buzzer;
  • 2 – contact intended for reading the key or card code;
  • 3 – earth;
  • 4 – the button for opening the sash from the inside is connected here;
  • 5 – for external LED;

Sections of the article:

In the process of arranging their home, every owner wants to make it not only cozy, but also safe. Currently, there are a huge number of locking mechanisms various types, but one of the most effective is an electromagnetic door lock.

Locking mechanism

An electromagnetic lock is a fairly simple device. The main components of the mechanism are the core with winding and the housing. In most cases, the core is glued together from transformer electrical sheet steel. This material was chosen to reduce the effect of residual magnetization when opening the lock. Also, to eliminate residual stress, a special paint coating is applied. However, this does not give the full effect of eliminating accumulated stress.

In most cases, the element is made in the form of a set of small plates welded in the shape of the letter “W”. However, sometimes a solid core is used, which is much smaller in size, but has a significant drawback: such an element is capable of intensively accumulating residual stress. Therefore, in a circuit of devices of this type, a high-capacity capacitor of 200 μF is installed parallel to the core.

The winding is a coil with a huge number of turns of enamel-coated copper wire. The body of the product is often made of aluminum or stainless steel. It is possible to use plastic elements, but this design is not durable and reliable.

Operating principle

The principle of operation of the product is to activate magnetic elements as a result of applying voltage to the winding and housing through the wires and terminals of the core. As a result of these actions, a voltage of 5 W or more produces a magnetic adhesive force of 150 kg or more.

When the voltage is turned off and the lock is opened, an oscillatory circuit is formed with alternating current. The discharge process, thanks to the presence of a capacitor, occurs through the winding. This changes the polarity of the magnet element. The remainder of the current is spent on magnetization reversal.

If the capacitor fails, it becomes necessary to open the door with considerable effort. In this case, replacement of the part is necessary. The new capacitance is installed parallel to the terminals. Moreover, it must be non-polar.

Types of electromagnetic locks

Taking into account the possibility of using various locking mechanisms in the device, the products are conventionally divided into the following types:

  • Shear;
  • Retaining.

The main difference between the systems is the operating principle. Thus, electromagnetic door locks of the sliding type have a small anchor installed in the cross section. The holding anchor is triggered to break away. The advantage of sliding electromagnetic locks is the possibility of hidden installation inside the door leaf. This product does not block the opening.

Electronic sensors

Electromagnetic locks are often equipped with built-in Hall sensors. This device reacts to the position of the locking mechanism and the locking of the door leaf. Such a sensor is always located inside the product, therefore, during an external visual inspection it is impossible to definitely say whether the lock is equipped with such a device.

Thanks to the Hall sensor, signals are sent to the core of the mechanism at high speed and with its help you can find out not only whether the door is open or locked, but also how many people have passed through it.

A significant advantage of such sensors is their high anti-burglary performance, as well as wear resistance. The products are not sensitive to temperature changes and increased humidity levels. In addition, it is impossible to open the mechanism using standard tools in the form of master keys.

Features of electromagnetic type mechanisms

It is worth knowing that not all electromagnetic locking mechanisms have electronics inside. Products without internal electrical elements are much easier to use and manage. Each of these devices has markings in the form of the letters “ML” and accompanying numbers. The numbers indicate the weight in kilograms required to open the door.

During the installation of the retaining lock, the mechanism is applied to door leaf. The trim is mounted on top of the door, thereby taking up free space and narrowing the opening. For this reason, mortise-type locking mechanisms are much more convenient.

Installation and adjustment of an electromagnetic type locking mechanism should only be carried out when the power supply is turned off. Such measures are necessary because during the installation process there is direct contact with parts of the product that conduct current.

Electromagnetic locks are installed even at emergency exits, since they are much safer than conventional locking devices mechanical type. If there is no power to the electromagnetic unit, the lock automatically opens.

Device selection

When choosing an electromagnetic lock for a door, the main criterion is the weight and thickness of the door itself. If you have a lightweight door, you should not install a locking device with a maximum holding force of 500 kg. For such products, a lock with a capacity of 150 kg is ideal.

It is advisable to install locking mechanisms with the highest possible magnet retention rates in reinforced and armored door structures.

Installation of an electromagnetic lock

Installing the lock is quite easy to do on your own. Before installing the product, you should prepare all the tools necessary for the work process:

  • Construction level;
  • Hammer;
  • Roulette;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Electric drill;
  • Wire cutters;
  • Fastening tool;
  • A simple or construction pencil for marking.

Installation technology

Before starting work, it is necessary to select a suitable place to place the device. Installation of an electromagnetic lock on a door can be done both horizontally and vertically. The main condition is to maintain the distance from the door hinges.

To determine the location of the counter plate, an overlay is placed on the door leaf of the main part of the device. After this, the stencil of the counter plate is glued. To fix the part itself, it is necessary to mark the location of the fasteners. Pins are necessary in this case to securely fix the mating part.

Before drilling holes, you must make sure that the installed drill has the same diameter as the hole according to the stencil. After preparing the holes, the plate is screwed to the canvas using washers. To ensure a good fit of the product, 2 washers are screwed onto each of the screws: a steel one on the side of the door jamb, and a rubber one screwed on top of it. This fastening system allows the contact system to swing slightly, which ensures a high tightness of the core.

To determine the exact location of the corner, the mechanism is again applied with its main part to the anchor element. Using a hexagon, the plate is shifted to the required plane. To check the correct location of all components, it is necessary to loosen the mounting bolt. This releases the counter plate. One of the most important features to ensure the correct functioning of the product is the placement of the plate parallel to the base.

Installation options

The installation principle of the product depends on the type door design. Based on these features, there are several ways to install the product.

Installation is carried out on the upper inner part of the jamb with the core placed towards the canvas. The contact element is located opposite. No additional fasteners are required. IN glass door The lock is installed with the contacts facing inward. Instead of a steel plate, a Z-shaped angle is used. In this case, the canvas opens into the room.

For installation on a narrow jamb, overlays in the form of corners are used. After such expansion, installation is carried out by placing the core to the canvas on the inside of the jamb. If it is necessary to unlock the door in the direction of the lock, the contact pad, like the plate, is secured using corner pads in the horizontal upper position.

Power connection

The final stage of installation is connecting the electrical part. This procedure is quite simple due to the presence of markings. So, the wires with the “+” sign are connected to the terminal with the corresponding designation. Wires marked with a “-” symbol are connected via a relay. To connect the elements, it is recommended to use a two-core wire with a cross-sectional thickness of 0.5 mm.

The installation instructions included with the products always note that the operation of the lock is directly dependent on the voltage supplied to the relay. Before starting installation, to ensure quality work For this product, it is recommended to purchase a closer device and a backup power source in the form of a UPS unit.

Product advantages

One of the main advantages of the mechanism is the absence of systematic direct contact of parts with each other. Thanks to this, damage does not occur as a result of abrasion of elements.

During use, depending on the maximum holding force of the mechanism, the power consumed by the lock ranges from 5 to 15 W, which is less than powering an energy-saving light bulb. Thus, the device is very economical.

Currently, there is a universal electromagnetic door lock on sale that can operate without the use of electrical energy. Its opening is carried out mechanically and, at the same time, it is possible to unlock the device when voltage is applied to the product. Thanks to this feature, it becomes possible to open the door in the absence of power.

Additional equipment

When using any of the methods for installing electromagnetic locks, it is possible to equip the structure with an additional functional unit in the form of a video intercom. The installation and connection diagram of the lock device remains unchanged and may have several variations. However, to connect video communication, it is preferable to mount the product on the upper inner part of the door jamb.

To produce individual electronic keys for a lock, a special controller with software encoding for the main master key is used. Such a system is justified when installing an electromagnetic lock at the entrance to office space or entrance.
