Detailed instructions for assembling a double bed, common mistakes. Instructions for proper assembly and disassembly of a bed with a lifting mechanism Features of disassembling beds of different types

For many people, purchasing furniture is a significant event. Headsets are not purchased every day; you want them to last longer and be comfortable. Most people try to assemble furniture at home themselves, but not everyone knows how to do it correctly. To better understand how to assemble a double bed, the instructions will help, which describe all the nuances, without which this process can become quite problematic.

Before you begin assembly, you need to check that all parts and components of the bed are present. Typically the standard set includes:

  • headboard;
  • longitudinal side frames (tsars);
  • central frame;
  • furniture corner (tension);
  • a set of screws of the required size;
  • additional orthopedic base.

Assembling a double bed is not easy to assemble, this process requires precision as well as attentiveness. You should start working strictly according to the instructions, where the assembly is described step by step and a list is given the right tools and materials. First of all, you need to have self-tapping screws, screws, bolts. The tools you will need are screwdrivers with different tips, a screwdriver, wrench

. To assemble new bed models, Euroscrews may be used, which require specific keys. A tape measure will not be superfluous, since you will have to measure parts of the parts and a level to measure the accuracy of the angles.

  • Before you start assembling the bed, you should remember the basic principles and requirements:
  • It is inconvenient to assemble alone; it is better to do it together;
  • the room should not be cramped, you need space to lay out large parts, take measurements and cut out;
  • Bolts and screws should not be tightly fastened right away; first, all parts must be assembled, and then only fasten the fasteners;

The assembly instructions need to be kept, sometimes you have to redo something.

Basic Workflows The assembly of any type of bed consists of important processes

, each of which is described in detail in the instructions.

Base Assembling a double bed begins with installing the base. The base border consists of three frames and a headboard. First of all, you need to connect these drawers together. IN For this purpose, there are suitable components in the form of corners, brackets, corner ties, connected to each other with screws and bolts. Next, we attach the legs; they can be screwed separately onto the frames or come as a set to the component parts.

The next stage is to attach the corners and shelves that come with the kit to the top of the drawer. We align everything perpendicular to the surface and only then secure it completely with screws. If the bed has a lifting mechanism, then we attach it at the headboard on the side frames, making the play minimal. After all these preparations, we assemble the base into a single whole and attach the central back to the frames.

Fastening the slats

Frame

The main element in the bed is its frame, which is a metal frame equipped with special slats that will prevent the mattress from sagging in the future, thereby providing the sleeper with spinal support and a comfortable sleep.

Standard model

The standard double bed model includes a base, frame, and headboard. Many people are concerned about the question of how to assemble a double bed - it must be assembled according to the instructions. This is not difficult if you have the necessary components and tools and adhere to a certain installation technology:

  • first of all, using corners, we strengthen the side frames at a height of no more than 0.2 meters;
  • install the footrests at the same height;
  • Let's assemble the ribs - fasten them five centimeters above our side frames;
  • fix the central frame. It is very important to take all accurate measurements and secure it in the center using special corners.

At this stage, the assembly of the base is considered complete. Another beam is placed on the frame in the center for the mattress pad. Then assembled structure tighten it completely with self-tapping screws, maintaining a certain distance of 10 cm. This will allow you to achieve optimal rigidity of the product. Wooden parts can be varnished as protective coating and after two days you can sleep comfortably on the bed.

To assemble the frame, it is necessary to connect all the elements in series. After this, you need to tighten the screws as much as possible. This procedure is best carried out by two people.

With orthopedic base

One of the common types of double bed bases is orthopedic, the main advantage of which is the uniform distribution of the weight of the person sleeping on it, which does not put additional stress on the spine. An orthopedic base is a special-purpose structure that consists of a frame and lamellas. It is designed to provide the orthopedic function of the mattress. The base can be attached directly to the bed or be a separate component.

How to assemble a double bed with an orthopedic base? For greater convenience, only the frame itself is assembled immediately, without slats. This will allow you to quickly attach the base to the bed frame in the future. Before starting to assemble the base around the perimeter, all the necessary parts are laid out in the required order. Using screws of the required diameter, the corners of the tie are fixed to the sides of the frame. Next, connect the side frames, the front of the bed (headboard) and the central frame with bolts, but do not tighten them completely. When all the parts are clearly aligned and connected to each other at a perpendicular angle, you can tighten the fasteners well.

The metal rod is assembled into one product, and the legs are attached to it. Then we insert it into the perimeter of the base and secure it tightly with self-tapping screws. For normal attachment of the lamellas to the frame, we place lamella holders on their ends and fasten them one by one into special holes on the base of the rod. We check that everything holds well and the orthopedic base is stable.

With lifting mechanism

The instructions on how to assemble a double bed with a lifting mechanism are slightly different from the assembly instructions for the standard model. This is due to the complexity of the mechanism itself. But if you have at least a little experience in assembling and following the advice of a specialist, assembling such a mechanism will not be a problem.

The main difference from assembling a frame with an orthopedic base is that special wedge-shaped joints are used to connect the parts.

To achieve the result you need to insert necessary details into each other and press down firmly until it stops. With the help of such connections, the parts will hold tightly.

According to the instructions for assembling a bed with such a mechanism, you need to connect all the parts with screws according to the sequence, and then tighten them well. The bed frame is attached to the body only by the lower part of the lifting mechanism, which is already attached to it. Due to the bulkiness of the design, it is better to do the assembly together; it will be extremely inconvenient for one person.

Then the slats are installed. You should start from the front of the bed. We insert the part into the special slot, bending it slightly. After a characteristic click, the lamella is securely fixed in the bar. We also insert all the remaining parts.

Headboard

An element of the bed, such as a headboard, can be a continuation of the bed or a separate part of it. It can be soft, upholstered with foam rubber, batting, or hard, in the form of shelves that will perform the necessary functions. After purchasing a bed, you can remake or improve your existing headboard with your own hands.

There are several methods for upholstering a headboard. You can achieve the desired result using the carriage screed technique. To do this you will need thick fabric, a sheet of plywood, foam rubber, buttons for finishing, and a drill. From a sheet of plywood we cut out a blank of the required size, foam rubber of the same size, and also fabric for upholstery. We fold all the components and place them on the main workpiece. We drill holes in the right places, put buttons there with twine threaded through them and pull them to the wrong side. We fasten the fabric hems and buttons on the wrong side with staples and a cut thick fabric close the wrong side.

Using approximately the same methods, you can make a headboard with an ornament made of nails or in the form of soft squares. In some cases, according to the bedroom design, it will be appropriate to make a headboard from smooth boards.

A double bed set will look great when an advanced headboard element is added to the design, both in a soft look and with a creative touch.

Additional equipment

The bed is the main component of the bedroom set. Sleeping places are located both in small apartments and in large apartments. Today, furniture designers are offering more and more new and modern models, having various additional equipment.

A box for storing bedding and linen is enough useful thing. With its help, the problem of disorder is solved; blankets and pillows will be kept in order. If we are talking about a retractable mechanism, such a box should not be very large. Today, manufacturers offer modern models that have a continuation of the front part of the headboard in the form of a bedside table. It looks very unusual, original and comfortable. On such a console you can put the necessary small things that you always want to have at hand - a phone, an alarm clock, a favorite book.

Super fashionable beds have different lighting. They can be located on the side of the bed, at the head of the bed and can be turned on with an inconspicuous button. These devices can easily replace bulky floor lamps and wall lamps. They have built-in energy-saving lamps that will last a long time, and their consumption will be minimal.

Common mistakes

How to assemble a double bed according to the instructions is not an easy question; even if you follow all the instructions, you can make a number of mistakes that can lead to loss of time and incorrect assembly of the product. TO typical mistakes include:

  • Beginners should not start by assembling massive and large parts. You need to start small, and there will be fewer mistakes;
  • before starting furniture assembly, the number of parts and fasteners is not checked against the instructions; parts of the furniture are not examined for chips, scratches, or damage;
  • inattentive study of the instructions can negatively affect the assembly process - the parts may be similar to each other, which will lead to their incorrect connection;
  • Fasteners from the set may be similar to each other, but used in different connections due to their diameter. And if in one case a long fastener can be used instead of a short one, then a short fastener will not be suitable for the role of a long fastener;
  • by collecting parts on a carpet or any other soft surface, you can ensure that some of the parts get lost;
  • Most of the bed parts are made of MDF, and if you make holes with a drill, the panels can burst. Bolts and screws are easily screwed in with a screwdriver;
  • Failure to follow the assembly sequence according to the instructions will result in the double bed with a lifting mechanism being assembled incorrectly;
  • If you do not glue some parts together with special glue, over time there will not be the required density between them.

Having a bed as a sleeping place is a wonderful privilege, not available to everyone small apartment. But having nevertheless allocated a place for healthy rest, many families are faced with the impossibility of placing a closet, because the bed is large and takes up a significant part of the free space. To solve the storage problem in a small bedroom, you can use an ergonomic bed with a lifting mechanism. It performs several functions at once: a comfortable, orthopedically correct sleeping place, as well as a spacious box for bedding, located below and not annoying the owners in any way. Is it possible to assemble such a bed yourself or do you need the help of qualified workers? In this article we will answer your questions and provide detailed assembly instructions.

Detailed diagram for assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism

The desired bed has been purchased. How to assemble it? In fact, a berth with a lift folds up like a regular bed, only parts are added, in the form of a gas lift or a spring mechanism.

First stage involves assembling a bed frame. The facing panels are connected to each other, the central crossbar is attached, on which they are laid for further fastening chipboard sheets, MDF or wooden boards(bottom material is supplied depending on the furniture model and its price). Next, the headboard is attached, and the finished box is covered with a removable cover, most often soft (but again, it all depends on the chosen model; some budget options are not equipped with such a cover).

At the second stage The lifting mechanism is being installed. It is very important to do this correctly, because inaccuracies in placement, an error in determining the sides, can disrupt the operation of the lift and break the mechanism. Experienced craftsmen recommend ordering an already assembled lifting device, which must be attached one by one to the lower body. In this case, the lifting mechanism itself is mounted first, and gas shock absorbers are installed on it.

Third stage consists of an assembly of the upper part of the bed, most often an orthopedic base with slats. They are driven into special holders with a hammer. This takes a lot of time, because each slats need to be secured on both sides, and there are at least 15 of them for a single bed, twice as many for a double bed.

Fourth stage involves connecting the upper base to the lifting mechanism. The sequence is the same: first, the top of the bed is screwed to the lift, and then the gas shock absorber is attached to it. At the same time, all work is performed with the base raised and the mechanism folded back.

The main process is complete. If necessary, some parts are tightened, legs are installed (if they are included in the package), the mechanism is tested, and it is lubricated for silent operation.

It is possible to assemble the bed yourself or it is better to use the help of specialists

It is possible to assemble a lift-up bed yourself; this is not a super task only for the initiated. Typically, each piece of furniture is accompanied by instructions from the manufacturer, which contain all the necessary instructions for proper installation. Of course, any consultant will offer the help of professional craftsmen; this is his direct responsibility. But you have the right to refuse the service and assemble it yourself. There are a few important points to mention here:

  • any damage incurred during the process self-installation are not guaranteed;
  • time spent on self-assembly furniture, are not compensated by anyone;
  • a failed lift will not be compensated free of charge during the unexpired warranty period if it is proven that the breakdown was caused by incorrect self-installation.

At the same time, by paying extra for a professional assembly service, you save time and protect yourself from non-warranty breakdowns.

What difficulties may arise during the process of assembling a lift-up bed?

For experienced craftsmen, such furniture does not involve any difficulties; assembling and disassembling a bed takes an hour. Beginners will have to tinker a little longer to get the stock and lifting mechanism into working condition. The main difficulties that a person may encounter when starting to assemble a bed for the first time are given below:

  1. The presence in the design of technologically blind holes that need to be drilled. Most often they are found in the back of the headboard. An inexperienced person will be puzzled as to how to attach it to the box. The answer is simple - they need to be drilled and connected with screws.
  2. Assembly and installation of gas lift. The process is technologically complex, requiring accuracy and symmetry when placing. It is difficult to describe it; it will be more clear to watch a training video.
  3. Lack of markings on wooden frame, or its incorrect application. This is the most unpleasant difficulty, because you cannot overcome it on your own. You can ask the manufacturer for clarification or call a furniture maker who, based on his experience, will suggest the correct option.

Now you have step-by-step instruction to install a lift-up bed, and the question: “how to assemble?” no longer looks so daunting. With proper effort and patience, this process can be done for anyone, and you can choose the appropriate model on the website.

I live with my wife in a communal apartment, the room is quite large, 25 sq.m., but most importantly, the ceilings are 3 m, which, in principle, planted the idea of an attic bed in my restless brain. And then some free time appeared and I began to design, invent and design my future child!

Bottom line: the result is approximately this, the size of the sleeping place is 1600x2000 mm, the height under the sleeping place is 1900 mm, so even a fairly tall person can go under the bed without bending over, at full height, but on the top, where you need to sleep, there is enough space to calmly sit down and not hit your head on the ceiling and yes, answering your questions right away, it’s quite comfortable to do this there).

The material of the entire bed is softwood, rolled (with rounded corners) board with a section of 96x36, 146x36 and sheets of sanded plywood with a thickness of 21 and 15 mm. You will see the principle of the bed itself, so to speak, a little later. I won’t describe how I looked for this board in September, October (at the end of the season), but in the end I found it at some sawmill, on the outskirts of the city... it is sold in 6 m lengths. I bought the plywood at Leroy Merlin and cut it to size there. But I had to tinker with the boards, since I myself could not trim and mill them according to KDD (Wooden Detailing Structures), since let me remind you, I live in a communal apartment, and there is simply no room for this, so I had to look for carpentry workshops that will take on this work . I searched for a very long time, as it turned out, our people are very lazy and picky, they simply don’t want to take on such work. But we are not made with fingers, so in the end I found some guys who decided to help me, and as it turned out, I came across very cool carpenters, their workshop is just great, and they live there, you won’t believe who...... RAVEN! RAVEN KARL, the real one!!!

Here he is handsome, he pecked my drawings)))

For scale, this bastard is chewing on an A1 drawing, which is almost a meter long!!!

The guys sawed boards for me, milled some of them, and I took them to my home.

Here you can see that ready-made and numbered (paper tape with numbers) parts arrived. Unfortunately, the details that were milled did not make it into the frame, but believe me, they were definitely there))) I saw it myself)))

The next question was painting. Since I was going to paint on my staircase, for these purposes, after careful selection, the choice fell on furniture varnish on water based Tikkurila Kiva 30 (semi-matte), I painted it in two colors, because I decided that my bed would be two-color and there was absolutely no other way))) I spent a long time covering the stairwell with masking film, but the result is obvious, it takes hundreds of paint marks to wash off after myself times less and believe me, this is not an exaggeration)))) And I will immediately answer those who asked themselves a logical question: “Why didn’t he then order painting of the parts in the same carpentry workshop?” - the budget for the bed was limited, and the guys from the workshop asked for a pretty good amount, since they paint with quite expensive materials and only in paint booth, of course, the quality of the product will be immediately different, but I decided that for the first time producing such a bed, and, in principle, to improve my experience, I would paint it myself.

I painted in two layers, the first layer dried within 2 hours, so I finished all the details in 2 nights, and this is almost 45 sq.m. surface to be painted, and yes, I painted at night so as not to disturb the neighbors, by the way, there is practically no smell from this varnish, it smells like water-based paint. After complete drying, it looks very beautiful, the wood texture is preserved and, according to the manufacturer, the varnish even protects the furniture itself from impact loads.

So, when all the parts were painted, it was necessary to assemble this miracle of “engineering”, but as it turned out, there were some difficulties associated with my vision of the future bed: I wanted, in principle, that no fastening elements were visible on this bed. ... but turning over in my head many options for assembling this bed, I came to the conclusion that I could hide most of the screws, but some screws would still be visible and there was nothing I could do about it..... And stop looking questioningly into the monitors of your gadgets, now you will understand everything)))

Some part of the frame has already been assembled here, and as you can see, the bed posts are made of three rolled boards with a section of 36x96 mm, different color brown-white-brown (there is not enough façade board here yet).

On racks Brown, holes are milled for boards with a section of 36x146, these boards are the future basis for attaching the logs, on which sheets of plywood and the mattress itself will in turn rest. In this photo you can clearly see the attachment point for these boards. The end boards of the same section are literally inserted into the racks and have cuts at the ends for supporting the façade horizontal boards. A third board of the rack is screwed on top of all this disgrace and secures this “intricate” knot.

This is what the finished bed post looks like, this is the back bed post that will stand against the wall and will be secured with reinforced corners to the ceiling and floor. I’ll tell you right away why I didn’t attach the bed to the wall, but I was confused with longer posts... the fact is that the wall against which the bed should stand is, in principle, not a wall, but some kind of very flimsy partition and no matter what kind of fastening to it I would if I didn’t, it would still not be reliable.

Here is another photo of the finished rack, but during the assembly process, before tightening the screws, I always tightened the boards with clamps, since the rack is a pie of three boards and none of them are perfect and still have some kind of deformation, one way or another side, or even goes with a screw... then in order for the boards to fit snugly against each other, I had to tighten them like this.

In this photo, the future staircase is already beginning to take shape, I abandoned the vertical staircase at the design stage, they are not very comfortable... well, that’s for me... for you, everything may be different))) The load-bearing frame is already fully assembled, but it still walks and can turn from a rectangle into a parallelogram, well, if you look at it in plan (from above), the necessary rigidity of the bed will be given in the future by sheets of plywood, but for now we have what we have))) And yes, I’m not assembling the bed on her future place, but simply in a free place in the room, in the corner of the photo, if you noticed a mattress and a laptop on it, at the same time I looked at the drawings when I was assembling the bed.

Unfortunately, there is no photo report of how I assembled the ladder, but I had a lot of trouble as I assembled it alone. I somehow managed to mark the steps on my own, but with the placement of the second string... uhhh.... I can’t say a word or describe it with a pen))) The photo also shows already mounted logs and laid sheets of plywood 21 mm thick. ... And of course, my two animals, a Maltese and a Yorkie, are languishing in the arena; their future home will be there.

Actually, the loft bed itself in all its grandeur))) The interior under the bed has not yet been furnished, but everything is still to come! You need to sleep with your feet facing the stairs, and at your head, if you look closely, there is a sheet of plywood installed vertically, so to speak, a wall for support, and of course there is a small shelf with sockets for charging the phone and sides so that the same phone does not fall from 3 meters heights)))

Well, as I said, a house for dogs has already been made)))

And here is actually the final result of my long labors, of course it turned out a little dark, but in principle the overall picture is visible)))

For comparison:

A somewhat similar bed in Ikea, to be more precise, Sturo (there were mentions about it in the comments) costs almost 30,000 rubles, but if you have seen it up close, you will understand that this money is very expensive to pay for it.

Carpentry workshops that take on the production of such beds, according to my project, rolled out a price tag of 60,000 rubles. and higher.

Disassemble the bed may be required when moving or renovating a home. If dismantling is performed incorrectly, then it will no longer be possible to assemble the piece of furniture properly. Some items may be lost, others may be damaged. In addition, work associated with disassembling interior elements can be harmful to health - leading to lower back pain and pinching. Entrust the dismantling of the bed to experienced specialists familiar with furniture assembly technology. Features of disassembling beds of different types

Ordinary beds are designed quite simply. Sleeping furniture usually consists of a base, sides and 2 backs. For experienced craftsman It will not be difficult to disassemble them and then reassemble them. The main thing is not to lose screws or damage fasteners when separating parts. Difficulties may arise when you need to disassemble loft beds, transformers or bunk structures. Since the assembly of these interior items is quite specific, dismantling will not be easy.
  It’s good if you still have the instructions for assembling the bed. Following all the instructions from it in reverse order, you can disassemble an interior element consisting of even several dozen elements. True, instructions are often lost or thrown away by owners as unnecessary after the assembly of products is completed. If you are not sure that you can disassemble a custom bed and then put it back together, it is better to invite a furniture assembler. A person with experience will do the job much faster, saving you a lot of useful time.

Disassemble the bed, and then “5 Masters” specialists will help you put it back together. We work with all types of sleeping furniture: from simple single and double beds to complex multi-level structures. The set of professional tools that our employees have at their disposal will greatly facilitate the dismantling and assembling of furnishings.

I've always liked convertible bedroom furniture. The available space under the mattress allows you to put a lot of things into the bed frame; this replaces a closet or chest of drawers, which is important for a small bedroom. I decided to make a double bed with a lifting mechanism myself.

I have been making furniture in my small workshop for a long time. Having the appropriate equipment and a large set of tools made solving my problem much easier. After a short search in the media, I decided on a bed design with a lifting mechanism and gas shock absorbers.

Tools

First I prepared the tool. Everything you need to make a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands is included in the following list.

  • Screwdriver for fastening furniture base frame parts.
  • Tape measure and metal ruler for marking MDF sheets.
  • Drill for drilling holes in metal parts of lifts.
  • Pencil for marking.
  • Drills for wood and metal.
  • Drill and key for confirmations for assembling fragments of the bed frame.
  • Iron for edging furniture tape.
  • Jigsaw for cutting MDF.
  • Clamps (2 pcs.) for fixing housing parts when assembling the housing.
  • Hacksaw for cutting boards to required sizes.
  • Knife for removing protruding parts of furniture edge strips.
  • Set of wrenches and sockets.
  • Hammer.

Materials

I bought the materials needed to make a bed with a lifting mechanism at the supermarket. building materials according to the list:

  • confirmations – 8 pcs.;
  • self-tapping screws 25 mm – 20 pcs.;
  • furniture corners (50 × 50 mm) – 4 pcs.;
  • metal corner (32 × 32 mm) – 1.4 m;
  • MDF sheet 2440 × 1830 × 30 mm;
  • fiberboard sheet – 2440 × 1830 mm;
  • edged board 1600 × 150 × 20 mm;
  • inset frame for a mattress (orthopedic base on a metal frame);
  • furniture legs – 6 pcs.;
  • edge furniture tape – 10 m;
  • gas shock absorbers (425 mm from 800 N) – 2 pcs.;
  • metal strip (50 × 3 mm) – 1.3 m;
  • PVA glue - tube;
  • bolts, washers, nuts - m 6;
  • metal bushings (10/16 mm) – 8 pcs.

The entire process of assembling a 160 x 200 bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands is outlined in the following instructions.

Step-by-step instruction

The work was divided into several stages:

  • preparation and assembly of MDF parts,
  • installation of an inset frame under the mattress,
  • production of lifting mechanisms,
  • Assembling a bed frame with a lifting mechanism with your own hands.

Preparation and assembly of MDF parts

  1. On a sheet of paper I drew drawings of a bed with a lifting mechanism.
  1. On a sheet of MDF with a pencil, using a tape measure and a metal ruler, I marked the future parts of the body.
  2. The MDF sheet was cut into pieces convenient for cutting.
  3. On the workbench I secured parts of the MDF sheet with clamps.
  4. I used a jigsaw to cut out elements for assembling a bed frame 1600 x 2000 with a lifting mechanism.
  5. The ends of all parts were wiped with a damp cloth.
  6. Pressing the edge tape with an iron, I ironed all the ends except those facing the floor.
  7. I set up a headboard (1664 × 772 mm), two side drawers (2054 × 296 mm), a back wall (1664 × 296 mm) and a cross board (150 × 1608 × 20 mm).
  8. On the outside of the corner joints I drilled 2 holes for confirmations.
  9. Installed the fastener using a Phillips screwdriver.
  10. The heads of the confirmations were covered with plastic plugs using PVA glue.
  11. Inside the 4 corners, I installed plastic corners with a screwdriver.
  12. To provide additional rigidity to the frame, I installed a transverse board, connecting it to the sidewalls with metal corners on screws.
  13. The fiberboard sheet was cut with a jigsaw to dimensions of 2054 × 1664 mm.
  14. The assembled frame was placed on its side. I secured the fiberboard bottom sheet with screws around the entire perimeter of the bed.
  15. I drilled holes in the bottom corners of the frame and in the middle of the frame. I inserted legs into them. Plastic supports ensure easy movement of furniture on the floor. At wet cleaning The placement of the legs prevents contact of the MDF with the wet floor.

Installation of an inset frame under a mattress

I bought the insert frame disassembled, which is convenient for transporting it in transport. Following the instructions, I assembled the retractable base without much difficulty. To do this you needed a wrench and a screwdriver.

Manufacturing of lifting mechanisms

Not everyone can make lifting mechanisms themselves. They can be purchased assembled at a construction supermarket. I decided to make the lifts myself. I made the lifts according to the drawing.

For the manufacture of mechanism components it was required:

  • corner 32 × 32 mm, length 700 mm – 2 pcs.;
  • steel strip 50 x 640 x 3 mm – 2 pcs.;
  • ties 150 mm long – 2 pcs.;
  • ties 430 mm long;
  • articulated bushings – 8 pcs.;
  • gas shock absorbers – 2 pcs.

The only difficulty was the formation of vertical deflections in the steel strips for the hinged fastening of the lower ends of the arms. I had them made at a metal shop using a small press.

Assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands

The most difficult operation remained - assembling the bed frame and lifting mechanism into a single structure. For final assembly I asked two of my friends to help. The work was completed according to the items in the following list.

  1. With the help of two assistants who held the inset frame, I bolted the upper parts of the lifts to the frame.
  2. On the outside of the sidewalls, the bolt heads were covered with plastic plugs matching the color of MDF.
  3. I finally checked the reliability and correct fastening of the entire movable structure of the bed.

Labor and cost

The amount of working time spent on making the bed is shown in the following table.

Taking into account the time spent on purchasing, transporting materials and work interruptions, the production of this furniture took me 3 days.

All acquisition costs necessary materials wrote it down in a notepad. They made up:

  • hardware (confirmations, bolts, nuts, washers, bushings, screws) – 100 rubles;
  • furniture corners - 20 rubles;
  • steel corner 32 × 32 × 1400 mm – 20 rub.;
  • MDF sheet 2440 × 1830 x 30 mm – 2800 rub.;
  • fiberboard sheet 2440 × 1830 mm – 200 rubles;
  • furniture legs (6 pcs.) – 60 rubles;
  • edge furniture tape (10 m) – 70 rubles;
  • two gas shock absorbers - 2000 rubles;

I took this bed to the dacha. And for my bedroom I made another model, slightly different in the width of the body. I assembled a new bed with lifts with my own hands, measuring 180 × 200 cm. This time I made the frame from laminated chipboard. I placed thin foam rubber and covered the outer surfaces of the case. I did this using a stapler. It turned out very beautiful and inexpensive.
